??? Got a question...

I just installed a new 9800 Pro. I've heard that Fast Write causes some problems, and I wanna know: what is it and should I turn it off?

Thanks

welcome to driverheaven capryan. most users notice zero increase in performance by using FW. some note a decrease in performance. some note no diff and some suffer troubles. IMO, turn them off. You have to do it in BIOS. once in there find the setting and disable it.

but what happens if you have a mobo with only limited options and can't turn off fastwrites.would the only option be in the driver?

Thanks, BTW there's a turn-on/off Fast Write option from the desktop (in Advanced Display settings). Can I turn it off from there instead?

FW must be turned off and on from BIOS itself. if your mobo does not have a FW BIOS option chances are it is not even supported by that mobo so disregard the whole issue. Turning FW off or on from ATI CP will do nothing except change it there
