Cool! Radeon Omega Drivers 2.4.74a for Win2k/XP

Here's an update on the last release:

What's New?
(2.4.74a)
* Fixed the 9600 TX installation problem.
* Fixed all the other "card not recognized" problems. (Yes, really, I did it...)
* Included a new utility, rTool, ONLY because it offers an option to force Triple Buffering in OpenGL games and I can't enable it by default on the drivers because there are some games that will not run correctly with TB enabled, more info here:
http://www.rage3d.com/board/showthre...eadid=33699972
* Added TV Overscan support.
* Removed some tweaks that where causing problems.

Get them here.

Hope you like this one, Enjoy!

Question:
i triede the hacked 3.2 drivers out there (but i would preefer yours since they are based on 3.6)
But - on the hacked 3.2 drivers i get acces to Smoothvision 2.1 - but in the omega drivers i only get smoothvision 2 - even if bot card and chipset is registred as 9800 pro.
the card i modded is a tachyon 9700pro - and as said - in 3.2 modded files i get smoothvision 2.1
How can i get them in the omega drivers ?

SM 2.1 is enabled in the hack for my drivers, is just that it doesn't show up in the ATI CP, that's all.
If the chipset says 9800, there is nothign to worry about, the hack is working.

Until the Video-out = Invalid (monitor) Sync problem is fixed, I'm stuck with using CAT 3.4s.

I just installed these, hoping for the best, and can't use them because of the above problem.

Back to CAT 3.4 for me.

NOTE: Both CAT 3.5 and 3.6 are doing this...as well as Omega's versions based on these. When I go to reboot the computer, if I have my Video Out connected, I get a black monitor screen once it reaches the normal Windows XP screen. My monitor displays "Invalid Sync" on the screen. If I unplug the Video Out connection, I can boot into Windows just fine and then activate Video Out from the Control Panel. It works fine until I have to reboot again.

yeah man, I got the same problem with bf1942... even with omega drivers, default drivers, hacked drivers, ati drivers...

I'm sure my rig doesn't have any problems (irq/drivers/settings/directx).

Even with the latest game updates it crashes... very odd.

I made a google search, and I realised that a lot of people got the same problem like us.
Very annoying

Anyway, I can live without this game... and thanks god, Half Life 2 is comming ;-)

Hopefully these will work. Using them on my Heculese Radeon 9500 card caused lots of lock-ups and 'infinite loop' errors, especially when running GTA3. Should I try them, or should I stick with the official ATI drivers I wonder?

MOHAA crashes to the desktop on mine. Didn't do it with the first Omega 3.6's. Haven't tried the ATi's. All I ever use are Omega's. I went back to the original Omega 3.6.

I haven't used Omegadrive's for a little while, so this may be a dumb question. I ended up with the pre-Catylist CP, was I supposed to?

I also used the 9500--> 9800 hack but my 9500 still shows as a 9700 like it used to.

???

Hmmm...very strange. DxDiag gives me an error when I run the Direct3D tests. "Test failed at step 8: Creating 3D device" is what it says. DirectDraw tests work fine though. I would be more concerned but I tried all my favorite games (GTAIII, Vice City, Jedi Knight II, Max Payne, Postal 2, ST: Elite Force 2, MechWarrior series, EA Sports NHL series, MOHAA & Spearhead) seem to work just fine. Maybe I should just mark this one up as a win and shut up.

If anyone's interested, I'm running a P4 2.53MHz on a Via P4PB400 with 1GB of Corsair XMS PC2700 with a Radeon 9800 pro 256MB and a Audigy 2. It's all running (well, almost all) on Windows XP Pro.

I tried uninstalling, using driver cleaner and reinstalling but it still won't run those tests. As for nortons', I haven't messed with anything from them in a while. Seemed liked they created problems for me and then tried to sell me something to fix it with.

Like I said though, I'm not sweating it too hard. The important things seem to be fine. Thanx, and how's Roscommon these days?

BF1942 Fix

I got two solutions for you (These only works if it crashes when you start the game).

1) Disable Force Refresh Rate.

2) Download The 1.4 Patch, Install it. And the go to your "Intall dir"\Mods\bf1942\Settings\VideoDefault.con (Open it notepad). And change "renderer.allowAllRefreshRates 0" to "renderer.allowAllRefreshRates 1"

Hope it helps... Well it did for me anyways

Same problem here with Sapphire 9600 Pro - With DX9b and WinXP non-sp1. But haven't tried to install the CAT 3.6 drivers from ATI yet.

Great Driver!!!

Hi,

This is the best driver i tried so far.
Image quality looks good and very fast.
I'm new to your driver and I have some questions:
1. I installed your hacked driver. How do I know that the hacked driver is installed properly?
I can't tell the difference from the normal Driver by looking at the ATI CP (It still says 9700 Pro).
People are talking about smoothvision 2.1. Where can i verify this? In ATI CP it just says
Smoothvision II? Is your CP the same as the ATI CP?
2. After installing your driver, I found that your driver somehow replaces the directx.cpl into the debug
version (and saying that it will be slower than the retail version). Can i reinstall directx again?
Or that will defeat your tweaks?
3. Just wondering if you could make the installer to be the same as the catalyst driver suite in
your next releases for easier installation, especially for clean install.

Thanks

BTW my spec:
Athlon Xp 2600+
Sapphire Radeon 9700 NP
Asus A7n8x
Win XP
2 * 256 MB RAM

BANDING

Looks like Omega added rTool to help with the banding: set it to use trilinear filtering at every stage. normal cats set to trilinear (instead of application pref) will only use trilinear filtering on the first processing stage, and then use bilenear filtering for subseqent passes. That causes the banding in some games.
