cant install ati drivers...weird errors

Hi everyone,
somehow I cant install the driver for my ati radeon 9700 tx w/TV-out on xp. I tried to install the new catalyst 3.7 driver and I tried the the omega 2.4.78, nothing worked. After getting the following error...

Remote procedure call failed.

...all the time, I formatted my hard drives and re-installed xp. Now I'm getting another error when I try to run the setup for the drivers.

Error code: 0x80040707
ISLAYER.ISLIsATICard
Setup failed.

I searched in several forums and found out that the rpc thing had something to do with a blaster worm or something (please correct me if I'm wrong), so I downloaded all the windows xp security updates, nothing changed though. What do I have to do to install one of the drivers? Please help, I'm trying to get these drivers to work for three days now.
Thanks in advance!

ok, I forgot to install directx 9 before I tried to install the driver, thats where the second error came from, but now I keep getting the first one again. I start the driver setup, but nothing happens. when I end the setup in the task manager I get the "remote procedure call failed" error.
whats wrong there??????
