Hercules R9800 Pro hanging/rebooting system?
Allright,
let's see if anyone knows how to help me solve this. My problem: Got a spanking new computer, but when I try to play a game (I've tried Call of Duty Demo, Grand Prix 4, UT2003 and Homeworld 2) it invariably hangs/freezes/reboots the system or just kills the game after playing it for 1-5 minutes. I've managed to get them going for a maximum of 10 minutes once or twice. There's no BSOD. There seems to be less crashes in 800x600 than in 1024x768 or 1280, but that might just be chance. Naturally, all settings in the games, has been set to maximum, or very high. I'm using no OC. I've tried Hercules' own 7.84 drivers the card comes with, ATI's Catalyst 3.7 and I'm currently using Omega 2.4.78a. They all have the same problem. System specification: Pentium 4 3.0 GHz Northwood-C 800MHz boxed Intel Pentium 3.0 HT Enabled Gigabyte GA-8KNXP I875P Motherboard with Audio:ON, SATA:ON, GB-LAN:ON 2 GB Corsair TWINX1024-3200LL DDR-DIMM (4x512MB) Hercules 3D Prophet 9800Pro 128MB DDR Western Digital Raptor WD360GD 36GB 10000rpm SATA Western Digital Caviar WD2500JD 250GB 7200rpm 8MB SATA PSU: 360W Chieftec HPC-360-202 ATX 12V Windows XP SP1 DirectX 9.0b Fast Writes OFF Tried AGPx8 AND AGPx4 Desktop 1280x1024 Can anyone spot a troublespot, or help in any way? Keeping fingers crossed here. Frank |
