Radeon 9700->9800 hack question

I know there are some Radeon 9500 that don't support the soft hack to 9700, but, Are there 9700s that don't support the 9800 hack?

I have a Club-3D Radeon 9700 (no pro). From the beggining I was having system hangs when playing some games, so I changed my 300W PSU to an Enermax 456W PSU. Since that change I was playing games without any problem, always using the official Catalyst drivers. Yesterday I downloaded the last Omega drivers and I installed it with the 9800 hack. After five minutes in Tomb Raider: AoD the system hanged, so I went back to the official 3.7 drivers. Then I played for one hour until I was tired.
Is it a driver problem or a card problem?

BTW, I uninstalled Control Panel before installing Omega's drivers, but I didn't uninstall the old drivers. I don't know if a fresh install will solve the problem, but I don't think that is the problem.

Sorry for my english.

Try a clean driver install first using Drivercleaner here, then you might try a fresh OS install.

Is it just me or isnt the 9700->9800 hack completely useless now. This hack was used in the release before the Cat 3.4's. In that release it was found that the 9700's would run faster using hte 9800 codepath. So when Cat 3.4 came out guess what......... the 9700's now used the same codepath, which is why there was such a big hype over the 3.4's. Doing the hack with any driver after 3.4 is pointless as its already on the same codepath. Any difference between the cards now is hardware related and will not function on the 9700 series of cards.
