3.8 - Homeworld 2 shadows - TERRIBLE FPS!

Is it just me or do Catalyst 3.8 introduce a terrible FPS loss in Homeworld 2 with shadows enabled?
With Catalyst 3.5 and 3.7 - it was fine, 40-80fps at 4x AA, 16x AF, but with 3.8, OMEGA 3.8, and OMEGA 3.8.5 - its around 22 at MAX at same settings!

ill have to reinstall the game again to test it out, havent played it in weeks. hopefully others might have some input.

With a 9600 pro I could not turn on the shadows without the screen freezing and the monitor displaying frequency out of range, reboot necessary.

I did get a massive framerate drop with 3.8 but I think ATI mentioned there were still problems with this game and the cat 3.8s in the release notes. ill try it later with 3.9 beta.
