New Catalysts v6392

These are based from the leaked Asus Drivers from asus ftp.

Whats good about them?

- Newer then Atii 3.8's
- Control Panel fully Working (100%)
- Flicking Texures FIX
- Great IQ and Performance

Driver
http://www.elite-marines.com/Driver_WXP_2K_6392.zip

Control Panel
http://www2.ati.com/drivers/control-...7m-011434c.exe

Hopefully Omega will make some optimized drivers based from these. But for now these drivers are 100% great and should had been the real 3.8s. Special Thanks to Sphinx for the great find and hosting the drivers.

Enjoy and happy gaming!

Will they work on my Hercules 9800 PRO? Or are they just ASUS?

Hummmmm why do I find this odd.........all of a sudden there have been 2 seperate leaked ATI driver sets.....It almost seems to me that they have been made available on purpose to address problems people are having with the 3.8 set

For what it's worth, these 6392 drivers allow me to play Halo, for the 1st time without constant freezes!

Using 9800pro, winXP, & default Balanced settings in Control panel. Card not oc'd.

Installed 6392 Drivers & 5046 CP, no problems.

Have installed every driver, including all Omegas, trying to get Halo working. Always clean install each time.

THANKS Sphinx

A little behind are we?

These are officially "unofficially" from: ftp://ftp2.asus.com.tw/pub/ASUS/mb/s...KXPVGA_INF.zip just in case anyone wanted the source.

I think the DELL Leaked Driver were hotter ,) - These are not based on the DELL Leaked... my R300 (9700 Pro) is not hotter as 3.7 Catalyst with these Drivers on Win2k - and the are the only ones ( Based on Catalyst and above 3.8) wich have not this BF1942 Bug (Texture Corruption) !

Is omega planning on making a package based on these? I love his drivers and I am hoping for a fix to the corruption in C&C-Zero Hour.

just to add from driver heavens front page.

"RESPONSE TO ALLEGED HARDWARE OVERHEATING ISSUE
We have spent a great deal of time analyzing the temperatures due to the CATALYST 3.8 drivers. We do not under any circumstance see anything near a 10 degree Celsius increase in temperature (but we don’t overclock our test cards either). We do see a slight increase in temperature in certain cases (3Dmark2003 Nature Scene for example). However any temperature increase is well within our safety range. Investigation continues and we are trying to determine why this change in temperature exits. At this point we are reproducing individual driver packages with code being checked in and measuring the temperature. However nothing shows the alleged increase in temperature. One independent website (DriverHeaven.net) even tried to reproduce this issue, and found no measurable difference in temperature between CATALYST 3.7 and 3.8."

that should answer your queries on the subject of overheating.

I'm downloading them now, but does anyone know if they work well for R200 cards? My 8500 absolutely didn't agree with the official 3.8's.

EDIT: OK, I tried them.......sigh.......all the same problems as with the official 3.8's on my 8500, no difference. Just thought I'd let everyone know.

I've installed them just now on my 8500. However, I had to do a manual install from the Device Manager. So, be prepared for that. And, as mentioned above, they are not WHQL drivers, so you'll need to treat them like Omega's....click the Continue anyway at the prompt.

I'll have to give them a workout later today.

I've installed these a few hours ago, I've been Playing MaxPayne2 for a few hours with my 9700p OC'd to 355/320- no lockups, no weird issues, all my settings seem to stick except triple buffering in CP. These seem like good drivers. I do see artifacts more on 3dmark03 test 1,2 with a lower oc than usual, but these drivers seem to have pretty good IQ and speed w/ AA and AF running- So maybe there is a trade off there.

Hmm...they didn't force me to manually install or anything, they worked normally in that respect (install CP, no reboot, unzip the driver, run the setup.exe, reboot). It's just the new problems introduced with the official 3.8's were also evident in these. Texture issues abound. I went back to my beloved 3.5 hotfix's.

I also noticed the return of the "ka-tink" (the sound my monitor makes when changing resolutions and going into games) The 3.5 hotfix's don't do this.....at least not often. I run all res's at 85hz except for 1600x1200 which runs at 75hz and the games I tested weren't at that res, so it's odd that it made the "ka-tink" at all. It would make the monitor 'ka-tink' EVERY time I went into a game, where the 3.5hf's don't. Not that I'm overly worried about that, nor do I know if it's anything to be concerned about, but there you are.

I used DriverCleaner 2.0 before installing them, so they were installed clean.

But hey, I gave them a shot anyway. Oh well. Hopefully you have better luck with them.

Man, from your experience and others with 8500 series cards, I would be willing to bet there are just "issues" with the 3.8's (all) and the 8500 series cards. Hopefully you guys will get this resolved in the next set.

Dell's drivers are 6.14.10.6396 - that means that at least 2D part is newer than these.
