V6392 drivers fix texture corruption!

These have fixed texture corruption in several games, i.e. BF1942, Halo, and C&C-Zero Hour. Try these out if you are playing these games or others that are experiencing texture corruption. Can someone test these on Renegade, as I know they have had a similar issue as well?

See this thread to get them>

Also a suggestion for future driver versions, can we get a Hotkey to invoke VPU recover? It is a great feature, but doesnt always detect the display lock and still requires a reboot, a hotkey could work kinda like a manual reboot, only just for the video. That could be done right?

If VPU recover isn't tripping, and you're locked up, then almost certainly your MACHINE is locking up, not the GPU.

VPU recover can't fix a locked CPU.

But the system isnt locking up, I still have background music and in-game dialog continues to play even after the display has locked. I dont know the exact details of how VPU recovr works, but can it detect all instances of display lockups?

Anyway I really started this thread to make people aware that the leaked asus drivers solved some of the issues that many are having, and also to ask Omega pretty please to work his magic on them

rgreen83 - Your system can lock up and leave the sound card playing sound from a DMA loop.

VPU recover works from a hangcheck timer.

Basically, When the driver first loads, it makes a little note in memory somewhere, 'timer = 99999999' or something along those lines. Every time the hardware/driver *successfully* complete some task, they reset the timer. Every tick of the system clock, the timer gets reduced by one.

If the timer ever reaches zero, the driver shuts down and restarts the graphics card, and then shuts down and reloads the graphics driver.

It's not perfect, and there are ways the graphics card/driver can still lock up (If the driver goes nuts and start sending bad data to the CPU, or writing to ram uncontrollably, or if the hangcheck timer itself fails), but VPU recover covers the most likely failures.

Hmmm, sound is onboard though, wouldnt that have to through the cpu? Clicks on screen still produce sounds, you just have a static screens to look at, I can manually invoke this lockup by using the general's ranking cheat in C&C- zero hour, maybe someone else can try this?

Im just glad these drivers finally got rid of the freakin corrupted textures!
