Problem with new drivers on Radeon 9500 pro

I have Radeon 9500 pro from supergrace manufacturer.
And i have problem. When i instal driver above Catalyst 3.4 performance is going down very seriously. In 3dmark 2001 test pixel shader Catalyst 3.4 - 170 fps, Catalyst 3.6 or 3.7 or 3.8 - 90 fps.
In other tests performance drop is not spectacular like in this tests but is visible.
Did someone have problem similar to mine. I don't know what is happening. It is software or hardware problem??

i think that's about the time they removed "cough" application specific "cough" optomizations from their drivers

Losing points in something like 3DMark2001 is not a real problem either. Try a genunie application like Unreal Tournament 2003, and you should see some improvement with later drivers. I know I do with my R9500pro.

yes I agree, I wouldnt really keep relying so much on 3dmarks anymore. those days are kind of coming to an end, run some of your games and you should find them nice and smooth with high FPS (run fraps)..

Chaos is right ATI removed certain optimisations.

Omega Catalyst 3.8
2003-10-27 17:07:49 - TRAOD_P3
Frames: 337 - Time: 8632ms - Avg: 39.040 - Min: 38 - Max: 40

Max Payne 2

Catalyst 3.4
2003-10-27 16:48:35 - MaxPayne2
Frames: 354 - Time: 8873ms - Avg: 39.896 - Min: 40 - Max: 41

Omega Catalyst 3.8

FPS are from Fraps log

In both games i loaded save game and i did not move mouse or keyboard (only start Fraps logging)
