A little driver advice please?
I'm at work right now but I'll be getting off here in a few hours.
And I'm going to be going home to install my new VisionTek 9800Pro card. ![]() But I got a little worried about the 3.8's driver set. With my 9700 Pro, plus I run 2 19in monitors. And I'm not going to lie, I was worried about messing one of them up. But now it's almost time for the 3.9's to roll out. What do most of you think about the 3.8's? Think there are safe? Do you really think they make your card run hot? Even after that test that Cowboy did?

I will be honest with you. Some people have had a few problems with the 3.8 driver's and some haven't. I had problems with the 3.8's messing up on a few things, I didn't like how my system was acting when I installed them, but that is just me. I reverted back to the 3.7 driver's and I am running stable and doing just fine. With you having a new card.....install the 3.7 driver pak and just wait for the 3.9's to come out.
No I dont think that they will burn up your monitor.....and over heating is only a possible problem if you are overclocking and even then it is questionable. There is very little actual difference in the code between the 3.7 and 3.8 driver section for the 9800 according to ATI..... Do what you feel comfortable with.....I haven't really seen anyone having a problem with the Cat 3.7's. Also take in consideration what games you are going to be playing in the next few weeks. There "MAY" be a possible issue with Call of Duty and the 3.8 drivers. But again....this may also be an isolated occurance of only a few people. Good luck!! You are going to love that card

I've had no problems with the 3.8's Vengeance, they are rock solid for me! Having said that, I had no problems with the 3.7's either!
