try downloading the directs 9.0b redistributable file from M$ and reinstall it. if that dont fix it you might want to list a bit more info so we can help you out a little more.

OBTW, welcome to DH! It's nice and comfy in here!

re-install dx9.0b as rgreen83 posted but after the reboot reinstall your chipset drivers before the omegas.

If you bought Call of Duty, dx9.0b is right on the disc.

List all your system specs and what was installed on it that worked before your problem.

mobo- what version chipset drivers you are using- when they were installed

the strange thing is, that the omega drivers worked properly before i had installed my system new....

i was able to run my radeon 9500 with softmod (also with all 8 piplines)...

and know after the new installation of windows.... i get the message "directx is no installed" and when i start a game or for example 3dmark01 the screen freezes and my computer locks up...

the only thing i can do is to reset the pc...

with the original ati drivers everything works fine, but there i have only got 4 piplines

Did you install the AGP drivers for your motherboard? These aren't normally installed automatically by Windows XP. You likely have a CD with files for your motherboard on it.

GO there and download all the motherboard drivers for your motherboard and install them.

Or maybe for you this would be a good option-- live update 3-- it looks like it does everything automatically.

or you can get your 865pe chipset from intel.

http://downloadfinder.intel.com/scri...ProductID=1049

just select your os then download.

they will contain the agp drivers, ide drivers also.

or here:ftp://ftp.abit.com.tw/pub/download/f...inst_autol.exe .this i direct link to your drivers.

intel are sooooo slow at the moment so taken from abits site.don't worry i have a abit mobo exactly the same chipset.recomend setting up a restore point up first.

That MSI Live Update is the ticket. I had a computer here about a week ago that needed the updated BIOS and drivers. It worked like a charm!

I figured for someone still learning everything about drivers that the "auto update program" might be a good first step- to get the feel for installing motherboard drivers and such... Plus that auto bios thing is very convenient. But if those aren't the very latest drivers, maybe he could go to Intel and get the other ones.

Honestly I was going to suggest the same exact thing Bravo- but then I searched the MSI sight and found that utility- and figured that was a great option..

When I had my Gigabyte board I loved the Live update program, made BIOS updates a breeze-- noe I have a utility like that for my NF-7 which makes BIOS updates totally easy too...

Yep-- that should work- I sometimes I install all the updates (including dx9) before even installing any video or chipset drivers, then install the chipset (mobo) drivers, then the sound drivers, then the video card drivers... I'm sure there are different ways to to it.

I don't see a need to reinstall windows, but, if you're going to:

XP first,
Motherboard drivers
DirectX
Video drivers

Sometimes I reinstall DX after I've switched the AGP and video card drivers a bunch of times.. I dunno if it is really necessary, but it has solved problems for me in the past.

i used to have a msi ms6330 (i think it were) and that i were in my very early days of pc's etc.that allways were my choice back then best kepped nice and simple were best.

but the intel site is even slowere than snails pace at the moment which is why i edited my post gave him a link to my mobo site.

but am still pleased that abit coninue the same thing for bios because atleast i know it will find the right version.

but as for chipset drivers i supplied will be no problem for pootch as there .exe file.

This one is easy, do a manual installation of ur drivers, not the executable file, just when the system says "directx not installed" go into device manager choose the "vga compatible adapter" then properties and "install drivers" then just chose the path where omega drivers are and install (ok wasnt that easy)

ok now i tried many posibilities for installing the omega drivers... i always get the messange "directx is not installed"
even the manually installation the driver doesn't help me much... because when i enter a game or run 3dmark01 after a few seconds the picture freezes... and my monitor goes standby
i can only reaktivate it by pressing the windows button on my keyboard....

the funny thing is, that everything ran right until my reinstall of windows..

damn i think i'll have to reinstall for new

Did you attempt yet to install the Motherboard drivers after installing Windows?

Also, you can install DirectX Redistributable to make sure you have it installed. You don't have to do this through Windows Update.

Another thing: Start up the computer in Safemode. Go to the Device Manager and check to make sure you don't have multiple instances of Display Adapters showing up. The only one/s showing should be the card's primary and secondary.

Once you install DirectX 9.0b, run DXDIAG to make sure that all the files are correctly installed.

Use the REMOVE option to remove ALL of them. This will give you a 'clean slate' to work with. Once they are all removed, restart Windows normally and it should detect the card and prompt for drivers.

don't be concerned about the two devises that is perfectly normal for At cards.it's like that for dual display.

If you had more than these in Safemode, you had too many. However, with the problems you've been having, I'd delete anything there anyway. Still gives you the 'clean slate' to work with.
