Problems with AIW8500 on IT7-Max & openGL

I just built a new system with the following configuration:

Abit IT7 Max
ATI AIW Radeon 8500
512 Megs Samsung Original DDR PC2700
1.6a GHz P4 Northwood
2 Maxtor 40gig HDs
etc...

I cannot run OpenGL games AT all except Cstrike. ANy other openGL games just refuse to run... I dblclick, the screen flickers and just comes back to desktop. Also Tribes 2 lags like crazy... like it freezes for 5 seconds every 10 seconds or so and whenever I try to cahnge weapons. THat is in OpenGL mode as well. I am using the 6094 catalyst drivers, the latest 8y bios for my mobo. Please help me solve this!! I'm like videogame deprived right now!!
