Cm or catalyst Crew, please read concerning hz rate change

Just a concern of mine. I'm not in any way blameing the drivers for the monitor issues going bad, but I do wanna note this. Today, just now I decided to start up Call of Duty, and I decided to check my visual settings, and found out they were at high, and not actaully extra.
Well I saw some wierd flicker effect when I hit apply, wich I thought was weird, so I decided to keep an eye on the monitor itself, and it's hz rateing.
Well when I went into the game, I noticed that my H (horizontal), was at 91, and my V (vertical) was still at 85 like it should be. When I exit out of the game, both go back to 85 again.
I guess I have a question or two.
1: Is this normal for this to change the hz rateing like that, especially since I have refresh locked at 85hz under monitors?
2: Will this ruin my monitor?
All in all, I guess it basically boils down to, is this an issue or is this normal, simply put. If this is an issue/concern, then I will mention it so you can all look into it, if not and this is normal, I will not worry about it.
On a normal basis, I run 85hz in games, this is why I was asking, and yes I DO check my monitor quite often when something looks odd or the hz looks weird. Alot of times it's still 85hz, just my eyes for some reason are more sensitive that day is all I guess.

Thanks for any info

I have a KDS XF70- your monitor comes with a three year warranty, it also will self protect if the rated frequency for it's current resolution is exceeded. I wouldn't worry a bit.

What resolution are you running it at anyway? That matters and you didn't say.

Your monitor is capable of running 1600 x 1200 @ 75 hz.

Do you have these drivers installed - by following the directions and installing the profile? Just wondering.

Yep, got all that right, and I'm running at 1280x960, since 1600x1200 only does 75hz , I 1280x1024 isn't standard 4:3 ratio, I tend to not like it in some things, it looks egg shaped.
Only cost me $183, so it was cheap enuff, for a 19", had it like a year now, and it's beena good monitor, so I can't complain.

One of these days I'll get around to getting a really nice monitor, but moneys tight right now so this one will have ta do.

I love mine- It's got better Image quality than many more expensive ones I've seen. I t has a nice anti glare screen built in and very nice color and focus.. If KDS built one that could run 1600 x 1200 at 85 Hz I'd buy it in a second. I think I'm holding out for a nice Viewsonic now.. Any Flat screen CRT/ 1600 x 1200 @ 85hz /w good IQ is my next monitor..

I think you have nothing to worry about with that problem you saw- It's under warranty, and the monitor will protect itself. What you described isn't even out of spec.

**edit**

I'm sure if they see anything wrong, Cat team or Cat maker will surely post here and let you know..

Ok kewl, was jsut concerned as I said ......yeah for as cheap as this was it's a REALLY nice monitor. Stand well agaisnt the other high dollar monitors, jsut doesn't do 1600x1200@85hz like i'de like, but 1280x960 is good for now.
I to am thinking about a nice veiwsonic, possibly the p90 version, does like 1600x1200@85hz
