ATI control panel failed! HELP

Hi,

I followed the instructions to the letter for the 'ATI driver installation for noobs'. However after installing the latest drivers and control panel I get the following message.

"THE ATI CONTROL PANEL FAILED TO INITIALIZE BECAUSE NO ATI DRIVER IS INSTALLED, OR ATI DRIVER IS NOT WORKING PROPERLY. THE ATI CONTROL PANEL WILL NOW CLOSE."

Can anyone please help with this as it's driving me nuts?

Many thanks,

Phil.

go to the file that the drivers were installed to.open there should be a file that contains the cp run the exe. file to reinstall the cp.give that a try.

in the drivers did you select auto or manual install.

if manual you might of just missed the cp option.

File that drivers are installed to.

Hi,

Thanks for the reply. I went to my hard drive and theres an ATI file in C: and there is also one in program files where I presume the control panel is installed to. Have tried to click the control panel exe. but it does nothing. Am I in the right place?

go to c:drive(if that is set for master hdd) double click then there should be a file 'ati'.enter the file

should show 'support' then file

'xp catalyst' double click that there will be a file called

'cpanel' doule click setup.

that the one you want. if that is not the same as you just tried.

difficult one to answer for me as i had a 9600pro.

this is on my current rig

look in my project to select the other scores.theres 1 for 9800pro and 2 for 9600pro and 1 for gf4ti4600.
to different scores as you will see.

but consider most 256mb models are clocked at slower memory speeds as 128's.

HI thanks

I was looking for around the 10000 to 11000 score when i upgraded from my GForce 3 card. I have just had this system upgraded it was a xp2000 with a GFORCE 3 TI and now it is a XP2600 with a 9600 card .
The guy who did the upgrade just said the 3Dmark just tested the 9600 card and not the system but i have a feeling theres a bottleneck somewhere.
