Driver Hotfix - ALL-IN-WONDER - OpenGL based games and applications may crash

The information in this article is known to affect the following configurations:
ALL-IN-WONDER cards
CATALYST 3.9
Windows 2000 / XP
Windows 98 / ME
OpenGL games and applications fail to launch, and/or an error message appears indicating that "OpenGL could not initialize". Other error messages may appear.

The following are examples of OpenGL games and applications:
Return to Castle Wolfenstein
Quake III Arena
Call Of Duty
Maya 3D

NOTE: After installing this HotFix, the product name in Device Manager will appear as "RADEON xxxx Series" instead of "ALL IN WONDER xxxx". This should not impact performance or features in any way.

A future CATALYST release is expected to address this issue. Further information will appear on this page as it becomes available.

Will this fix the Call of Duty freezing errors on the 9600/9700/9800 etc?

I'm not 100% sure but I expect this only includes a proper .inf file for card recognition in Windows. Since the CoD crashes are pinpointed to some AGP Bus issues as mentioned by CM on this board this will need a complete driver bugfix.

would i have to install just like a new driver or just overwrite for a 9800pro?

all the games listed are working fine.

on my 9600pro sof 2 used to lock up.but don't on my 9800pro.

the c.o.d (demo) locks up on 9800pro but is the only one.i cant say if it is just the demo that is the problem as the lock up is the only thing that is holding me back from picking up a copy of c.o.d.

i just started haveing lockups.... temps were good though (i checked while running cod till it crashed) .... and happend more frequntly with all the eyecandy turned up.. scrren goes black and get a horrific sound on my speakers

you mention the sound,it more like out of some horror movie.

well withspeakers cranked up...in the dark... you sceen goes black (only source of light in room, at around midnight).... and that sound comes screaming out your speakers yea it startles ya... it's not a pleasen't sound eather...

The Aquarium Screensaver strips the wallpaper again. I hope that this will be fixed again for my card. This issue is in The Truth on Cat 3.8 with pics. I don't think I will install this driver.

Yeah, I was wondering how specific it was because they only lisy AIW cards and only OGL games- Mine isn't AIW - so I'm thinking it might not even affect me at all....

im a little curious also about that one.but i did quote they seem slightly better.but that could just be for the reason of changing to a 9800pro from a 9600pro and didn't use driver cleaner,only installed card and reinstalled 3.9's.

it were only the other day i swapped to these drivers via dc routine.

WELL, this does seem to fix the COD problem for me, but my FPS is down by about 20 now.O Well, im just happy to play COD without a crash!

i have just taken a little bit of a chance.just orederd c.o.d online to see if the full game is different.as it were only the demo that froze.no other quake 3 engine game i have had any lock ups with the 3.9 hotfix games.

i will post again if still having trouble with c.o.d.
