Pissed ATI Radeon Mobility 7500 Graphics Drivers/Control Panel - PLEASE Help:)

Hi-

I just found out about this site today, believe it or not from a employee at Compaq technical support.

I have been trying all day to upgrade my card to the latest drivers and control panel. Compaq has NO idea what the latest drivers are, they have like 8 different links on their website for my specific model of notebook but when you download and install what they tell you to do, the dates don't match up with what they are suppose to, it's ridiculous! I have been going through this ALL DAY LONG!

While I'm glad I found this site I must say it is very confusing, at least for me. I can't seem to find any current drivers/control panel software for my card on this site. Maybe I am seeing them but they are just named or labeled differently from what I'm use to seeing drivers named as.

If anyone here can please link me to what I need to download, you have no idea how much I would appreciate it. I'm sitting here typing while my screen is HUGE because I have no drivers installed for my card right now and I would like to move on and actually play some DVD's at some point this evening but I can't do anything until I get this driver issue completed.

Thank you all in advance.

try finding your drivers here or you can try the Official ATI Cats using a mod tool or give Omega's drivers a shot.

Thanks for your reply. The problem with the HP/Compaq website is they don't list the actual name of the video card that goes with the dirver. For instance it doesn't say, Mobility Radeon 7500. It just says, ATI Mobility. How am I suppose to know which driver goes with which card when they don't list them correctly? I never had this issue with Dell and before Compaq and HP merged, Compaq never did this either. Everything was very easy to figure out because it was worded exactly 'word for word'.

When you say the "official ATI Cats" from the ATI website or is it this website?...are you talking about the one that includes for the AIW cards or does it matter? For instance the most recent one is Catalyst 3.9 ALL IN ONE with a size of 25.07MB Even though my card isn't AIW should I still select this one?

If only ATI still carried notebook drivers. The computer companies are not doing a very good job these days of labeling them correctly. This is my opinion, maybe not yours. If you go to Compaq.com, and select the drivers available for my notebook (1525US), it displays all the drivers for my notebook (not just video but all of them). They have like 8 different drivers listed for the graphics card in my notebook, most with a release date of 6-1-03, why 8? It's just really confusing.

So anyways I was sent the correct one to download from a online tech support rep and I installed but it doesn't seem to be updating the file date within device manager, it still shows the old driver date of 3-3-03, I have even ran that driver clean tool program from here and it still isn't fixing the problem.

I don't mean to sound like I'm stupid (because I'm not) but I'm by all means no graphics driver expert like some of you are. If you could maybe give me an exact link to download what I need to download, I would appreciate it because there are so many dirvers listed for ATI cards on this site, I don't know which one I'm suppoe to select being that the drivers are not labeled as to what card it's suppose to be used with.

Thanks.

hey ofcourse, you're not stupdig, you were smart enough to come to DH!

here are some links -->
the 3.0 all in one can be found HERE

extract the file by doubleclicking it, and use the default directory. after that get the DH modtool HERE

the use the modtool to mod the catalyst files.

Start the setup form the default C:\ati... directory and the installer will (normallu) detect you're card and install the necessary drivers.

Good luck and welcome btw

OK, thanks for your reply. One question though. My card is NOT a AIW, does that matter? If it doesn't matter, why wouldn't I use the most recent driver of 3.9?

Thanks.

SSeaW,

This is the All-in-one driver not all-in-wonder, meaning that this package includes the Driver, Control panel (and the all-in-wonder driver which you won't need but doesn't mather)
