i have a 9600 pro ez and i had lockups with fast writes on

i read a post in guru3d about turning off sync every frame in cod options and worked .. no more crashes and i have FW on ( nevewinter nights crashed with it OFF ) so now everything is working fine
give it a shot and see if that cures the lockups) . it worked for me

fastwrites is REALLY overestimated... it hardly increases speed, but having it disabled gives a rock solid gaming experience. from benchmarks ive seen comparing fastwrites off/on its like a 0,1fps speed increase with it on. My system usually locks up when playing games and having fastwrites on.

Just wanted to chime in anjoazul. I tried your method and played 25 minutes of CoD, fastwrites on and v-sync off with no crashing. Usually I crash within 10 minutes with fastwrites on. Trying to find the time to play longer then 25 minutes to see if I can be confident this works.

I beleive anyone who tries this should go into the config. file first and make sure to set the max fps more then the video card is capable of as I beleive any fps constraint may be contributing to crashing with fastwrites on

its working here no crashes and i didn“t go console to set max fps and its working for much more than 25 minutes

anyway maybe depends on config mobo etc

turning vsync off did solve my prob with cod ( it kept crashing 30s after starting)

cheers

Update, just did the car ride with fastwrites on and vsync off... game crashed in like 15 seconds. It seems when ATI fixes this problem, the car ride will be the real test.
