Will this fix the hurrendous performance drop seen in certain OpenGL games (if not all) on some systems? When using Cat 3.8s/3.9s i get absolutely aweful OGL FPS drops (e.g. in UT2003 they've dropped from the 3.7 180/80 to low 30s/low20s, D3D performance remains aroud the same as 3.7 280/80 (estimates)). I've tried everything so far, disabling FW etc, and patching to an old version of the atioglxx.dll (or whatever it's called) as well as using the old hotfix and beta 3.9 file, nothing worked. The only solution is to use the 3.7s. Interesting to note is if i install the 3.9s and patch with the ogl dll from the 3.7s i get the same performance drop and texture corruption as seen with full 3.9s (as if the ogl file wasn't to blame) but if i install 3.7s and patch with the 3.9 or 3.8 ogl dll then i get the performance crap and texture corruption (suggestingt his file ios to blame).
Are ATi aware of this issue? and is this new hotfix suposed to fix it? or has it not been mentoned before and therefore shouldn't hold my breath?? ta

Well no freezing but serious hangs in the middle of the game. That's annoying when your fps drops to one and a sniper blows your head off.

Maybe you all are looking at the wrong device..
anyone tryed to lower 1 or 2 steps @ the Hardware acceleration of you Sound card? (sound & MMedia prop. /soundplayback preffered device/advanced/ audio properties/ HWacceleration) maybe that will solve it. |

YES!!
This update also fixes the Empires: Dawn of the Modern World bug, even though ATI doesn't say so. It's mentioned here. http://www.ati.com/support/infobase/4290.html but it's no more, THANK YOU ATI

Your team has been very fast in responding to any problems. This is a very good sign for the whole ATI community. |

that's exactly the problem yes. It occurs in all versions of 3.8s and 3.9s i've tried so far. I'm really not hpopeful that these will improve at all. I don't understand how ATI could have missed it, so much for testing.

Ok how stupid do i feel right about now???
Just downloaded the new cats (semi 3.10s) and isntalled em and i'm glad to report that things are greatly imporved in the OpenGL department for UT2003 (haven't tried anything else) D3d got around 165/72 and OGL got 147/64 which is a helluva lot better than 30/20 in the previous coupleof sets. So my appologies to ATi and the Catalyst teamf or going off on one before trying them, and thanks for early release

i would say thank you again for fixing the COD problem. I usully experience lots of hangs and lockups in the car stage. With this hotfix driver, there is no more lockups in this stage. The opengl performance also seems to improve.
Good Work Catalyst Team |

No more lock ups in the carride (ultimate test) for me. Nice job ATI. Way to respond to your customer's concerns efficiently.

To everyone thanking us, you are very welcome.
Sorry for the bug in the first place. Hope we took care of it for the vast majority of you. I still see that it did not fix it for everyone so I am going to gather some more info and see what is happening. |

Hmm...I tested out the new driver.
I immediately noticed this problem that has existed since the Cat 3.6 on my BB ATI Radeon 8500 128DDR: The Hulk I realise that this is not what this hotfix driver was meant to fix, but I think I found the culprit DLL that causes this problem for me. If I replace the ati3d2ag.dl_ file in the 3.10 beta drivers with the one from the 3.5 hotfix drivers, the problem goes away. So far, I haven't encountered any problems by doing this little file swap and all my games play correctly. Just thought I'd give a little insight to Catalyst_Maker on this issue. Maybe he can investigate what's causing this in that DLL with that game on my 8500. BTW, my Radeon's BIOS is listed as: BK7.6.0 VR.000.000.007.006.003.001.001 ldfyy According to the "adapter" tab in the Radeon CP. I never overclock and have never flashed the card's BIOS. Hope this info is useful to CM.

Got CoD running again..
the 9700pro dude.
After trying diff. drivers including both ati and omega 3.9 drivers,I finally solved me probs! I knew disabling fast write worked fine to,however,I prefere to leave it enabled by default. So I searched for other solutions and found this1 to be just fine. I reinstalled the ATI 3.9 CAT driver and updated the hotfix...CoD still crashed after that... So I installed the the 2nd fix regarding the VPU recover error message,(which I btw never had ) Problems solved!!! No more crashes... The game always crashed on the same spot, level ship3. I can modifie me settings as Vsync in whatever way pleases me,the game keeps running smooth. desktop res. 1024x768@85Hz ingame res.=same with all setting by default, also Vsync,I have a constant fps not going over 85 or under 70. I could raise those nmbrs if I wanted to,still, theres no reason doing so cuz game runs very nice!!! I really hope this time it wont start crashing again...atleast I came out ship 3 alive.. http://search.ati.com/nasearch.asp?Q...go.x=11&go.y=9 use this link for the fixes made by ati.. good luck !!!(ull need it! in my opinion, sys.spec mather, even when having same videocards,I have a feeling that dusnt mean u need same solution.) f.e.,some machines run just fine holding a 9700 pro, fast write enabled(with 3.9 cat driver).mine did not... winxp pro sp1/XP2400/512ddr dual/radeon 9700 pro please dont mind any mistakes, keeping in mind I learned me english watching movies, lol. |

Thanx very much CAT MAKER !!!, i see almost everyone has resolved his problems with the COD game wich is really nice, i also did but in another way..............Reinstalled WIn XP, new Nforce 3.13 drivers+OLD 3.2 Cathalyst that came with the CD and VOILA!!! everything runs fine and smooth COD. Battlefield (that´s what i needed)
Also noticed that my 3 weeks old Radeon 9800 PRo could have freezed the system because the FAN wasn´t spinning all the time!!! it went slower then faster then slower..... .....1 drop of special all in wonder OIL in the fan and it now runs fulll power all time (still check it once a day or more until i get more secure).BTW will wait till official new radeon drivers with hotfix included to upgrade from my trusty 3.2 cathalyst and carefull with those crappy ATI fans (think i will put one coolermaster i have with rpm monitor just in case....)

Unfortunately the new catalyst drivers 3.10 didn't do anything for me...
I completely uninstalled the 3.9, used drivercleaner 2 and then installed the ati fix (the 'almost' 3.10 catalyst). Am I missing something here??

Call of Duty hangs with this HOTFIX as before with 3.9, 3,7, or Omega drivers. For me only disabling "Fast Write" works.

Even disabling fast writes (in the Ati CP) doesn't work ...
I'm at a loss - very frustrating being stuck in one map...

you could: Try lowering HWaccel. in the sound options, or change to 2D sound in the game, see if that helps What Watt is your PSU? you need atleast 400w. or if you can, try underclocking your card, if that would fix it return the Pwrcolor and ask an other one (RMA?) |

Hawk bedankt voor je... oh ja, sorry
I lowered HW accelleration for the soundcard in Windows. As to 2d sound, I tried the 11Khz setting in the game - same result. My PSU is 350 watt. I only have one HD attached to it... Why do you think I could use a 400 watt PSU (I want to buy a silent PSU and I'm considering a 350 watt at the moment: Coba AP-350X. Underclocking my card?? No way! I could try it though... One thing I've thought about is that maybe the GPU is running too hot. Anyone know of a tool where I can monitor the GPU's temp?

Hmmm,
There 6 temperature readings, not sure one is which now. But... One of them is reading well into the 90 (probably the CPU) degrees celcius... The other are running in the 50 degrees celcius (Could be the GPU) ...
