Standby monitor problem help
hi all
i've a sapphire ati 9700 non pro and randomly my monitor turns in stand by mode and there's no way to wake it up but to restart the pc. I've tried all the catalyst and omega drivers out there (now i'm using catalyst 3.9) , set in the correct way and i've selected the fastwrite option off in the ati preferencies ...but still the same problem. My pc is a p4 3ghz, mobo EPOX 4pca3+, 1024gb corsair pc3200, 400w power sup and the agp in smartgart is set 8x. Of course all the screensavers and power option in xp are off. Ps this problem happened when i was not using games or something like this ...just using normal windows programs but i guess could happen in any moment. tnx in advance |

The same thing happens on my Sapphire Radeon 9700 pro as well. But it happens when I'm playing games. My system is a P4 3GHz, Albatron 865PE Pro Mobo, 512MB PC3200 RAM, and 400w power supply. Do anyone have a fix for this problem? It is starting to annoy me.

Do you have the VPU recover option enabled ? It may be able to give you some insight into what is causing the standby problem

I have the same problem, how do you enable the VPU Recovery? I have Catalyst 3.8 drivers.

I have the answer tis an oldie (issues wise) but it's in your bios settings... got to your power management and make sure make sure.... yoiur video off option is sey to bank screen. should look something like this...
acpi is turned = on/enabled suspend mode = S1 Video off option = suspend -> off Video off method = blank screen

my 9700 does this too. the more i push fsb/ram, the more it does it. i can run prime95 or sciencemark all day at 225fsb but run anything with 3d graphics over 216fsb and it almost instantly turns my screen into standby although i can still hear sound. i tried the chipset voltage mod and it does it even faster, extra cooling doesnt help.
i think DPMS, ACPI, APIC, APM etc are screwed. ACPI/APM gives 100fps less in 3d2001 game test 1 and it shouldnt. APIC makes freelancer get stuck intermittently at 64fps wether vsync is on or off (both my KT400/Nvidia sys and NForce2/Ati sys do this). i venture there is some timing thing in the power management code/HAL that doesnt work with newer faster systems. newer systems behave too differently between power managment modes where a system like my old KT266A didnt notice any difference between acpi, apic apm etc - remember how the AMD k62 350 was too fast for win95, needing a patch from ms? maybe hal.dll(s) needs the same treatment. anyway i would suggest trying different power management modes/HALs and see if it helps. otherwise dare i say it reduce fsb. |
