cats3.10 and 3dmark01 IQ problem? (pic included)

Ok I didnt take any performance gain or loss with these compared to cats3.9 but one thing I did notice is that the distant water reflection textures in 3dmark01 Advanced Pixel Shader test (you know the one with the boat and pier) looks as if they are almost flashing. Now what part im talking about is the water reflection of the distant plants near the beginning of the test as it passes the pier but not the boat yet. Can anyone else confirm this?

Hey, you got a good eye there. Yep, I see that too. I wonder if it has always done that though. I'm too lazy to install older drivers to test it out.

Is it like a real FAST type of flickering for you? That's what I see. Like you said, ALMOST flashing, but not quite, more like a pulsating or shimmering effect at a very high speed. But yeah, I can confirm that I see the same thing.

Anyone else ever notice if it did that before?

In another instance of 3DMark01.....
One thing I DID notice though is that the pixel shader test with the waves of water has improved greatly for me. Since long before the Catalyst branded drivers, I've had a problem where the last tilt of the camera in that scene would result in the waves in the foreground would kinda hiccup/stutter, but everything else was OK. That is nice and smooth now with the 3.10 drivers.

Thanks for the replies good to know its not somenthing wrong with my driver install or video card itself. Really the only reason I posted it was because it really stood out to me and I dont really remember seeing this with my old ti4600. If this is the only thing that bugges me about my 9800pro than I am not complaining cause hey its just 3dmark01 all my games look and play great with this card so its all good.

I got the same with my Radeon 9700 Pro and the Omega 3.9c drivers (the once based on the offical 3.9 release).
And I get the same problem with my Ti4200 in another PC.

As far as I can remember I've always seen that.

Crash Override is an unknown quantity at this point

The reason why everyone remembers always seeing it there is because its always been there.

Look very carefully at where you are pointing

Look at the surrounding scenery. You have waving fronds of a plant in that portion of the picture that move. When it moves the amount of light being cast on the water changes and causes it to lighten and darken quickly. Its simply a small mathematical miscalcuation caused by the rasterizer. With raytracing that would not happen

Add to that the reason you may not have noticed it before on the old Ti may have to do with the brand that Ti was and the fact that nVidia for the last couple years has had more than questionable tacticts in Futuremark benchmarks for reducing image quality. Something like that may just not get drawn properly which would result in the scene being rendered differently
