mobility resolution problems
Hi guys,
I have a Radeon Mobility 9000 and just installed the new Omega drivers. They installed with no problem but the standard resoultion size is way too small. It's set at 1400 x 1050 but it's much smaller in size compared to the last driver. If I try making it any larger in gets fuzzy. I tried rolling back the driver but still stays too small. My monitor on my laptop is 15 inches. If you have any ideas of how to make it larger or why the standard got smaller with the new driver, I'd appreciate it. Thanks. |

Hi,
I've a laptop (below) with the same native resolution and screen size as yours - been running the Omegadrive drivers since I got it (coming up on a year now - or more...) The font (screen lettering) and icon size has stayed the same for me throughout all driver installations. Is the actual screen displayed on your laptop like a window bordered all around by a black area to the edge of the screen or is it that your icons and lettering below the icons too small - please clarify. Also, what make and model of laptop computer is it?

Hi,
Thanks for helping. There's no black border around the screen at all. The font and lettering is much smaller even though I have it set at 120 dpi. The icons are a lot smaller as well as the taskbar on the bottom of the screen. My specs are below. Thanks again. Fujitsu N3010 notebook 2.6 GHz 512 Mb 40G HD Radeon Mobility 9000 64Mb Windows XP |

ggottfri,
Since you don't have a black border around the screen that tells me that it's not a bios setting. Right click your desktop, left click "properties", left click "appearance" tab. You'll notice a setting there for font size - select what suits you (the preview window will show you what the new setting looks like before you click apply). On that same window on the right (from the font size selection) you'll notice a button labeled "Effects...". Left click it to reveal a check box for large icons, and other effects (unchecking the the transition effects box, the smooth edges of screen fonts box, and show shadows under menus box will speed up your desktop and menu cascades!). Click "OK" and/or "Apply" to save your selected settings on the way back out of the windows. Don't know how your settings got changed, may have been the installation (mine too, but so long ago I don't remember). See if this is what you're looking for.
