Color bug.
Sorry but its time for another thread involving the much forgotten colour profile bug. Those of you simply not interested please turn away. The rest that feel its about time it was fixed, feel free to carry on reading. Thank you.
Ok a couple of points to begin with. 1. In the color profile only 'Generic Profile' is shown in the fullscreen window and not for desktop. -It can be obtained but it requires a tedious amount of applys and saves and this will not save. The second you apply and ok it will have dissappeared. 2. When playing games the profiles often don't work in fullscreen. Cs1.6 for example. It can be opened 10 times and roughly less than half those times the proper profile will load up. 3. The fullscreen profile will often forget its being used and will revert to default settings and stay that way until the user goes back in to the color tab and cycles through the profiles. 4. When dropping out of a fullscreen game the desktop profile will not load up and revert to default settings ^^ 5. Hotkeys will sometimes forget there enabled and will require you to untick, tick and apply in color tab/hotkeys. 6. Hotkeys will not work under opengl in certain catalyst drivers. Ok now Im aware that some of these might very well be my own fault on my system but I have formatted recently and the exact same events occur. Also from searching the forums here (and also making a thread myself which was competely ignored) it has came to my attention that this is an actaul bug or looked over flaw. With that out of the way I'd like to ask everyone viewing this to simply check in their color tab and to see wether the 'Generic Profile' exists in their desktop option... If it doesn't then carry on reading and if it does then please begin a reply stating you do. Please only do the latter if you have infact checked and are 100% certain that it is there. Thanks. Right the interesting part: How to make 'Generic Profile' appear in desktop. When using the 3.8 drivers I, somehow, was blessed with the ability to use 'Generic Profile' in desktop and it worked flawlessly, even appearing to work underneath the fullscreen profile so that I was never reverted back to the darkness of default. But I knew this to be to good and sure enough without warning it vanished leaving me with trying awkwards ways of getting back via registry entries. I've noticed that I can get it briefly however. I'm still fairly scetchy on how Im managing to do this but whatever I'm doing is making the 'Generic Profile' appear. Please take note that it doesn't stay however. Once you apply and click ok and go back in to color, it has magically disappeared again. If you take note how, in fullscreen, the way that 'Generic Profile' is written - Capital G and P - If you try adding that in to desktop you'll notice that you cannot save the profile. So doing this actaully shows that it does exist. Of course the name doesnt stick and once you return back in you are presented with a blank profile. The trick? It seems to involve ticking and unticking 'all colors' as well as saving and applying profiles. Saving being the hammer on the nail for it appearing. Try it yourself: I have 1 custom profile in desktop. I called it Gen. -It can be called anything- Open the color tab, making sure your custom profile is already on. untick 'all colors' apply save Is it there? -Hows about a quick hypercam recording to show it off? Check here for my clip - only 114kb P.s I hope I'm not wasting anybodys time with something trivial but its annoying to me and it does appear to be a bug/flaw. |

just noticed that it's the same way on the nvidia drivers to.... Desktop doesn't show any profile... fullscreen shows Generic Profile... but i didn't get desktop a chance for saving on and seeing what happened... i'll have to check back and see if it's just maybe a windows problem as well...

Oh...was this a bug? I figured it was just God giving me a little taste of the hell that awaits me.
Someone should print this topic off, have it made into a very large sign, embossed...gold lettered, and see that ATI management gets several copies at the next meeting for easy disbursement. Other than that...no complaints.

Sorry but its back again :o Please spare a minute to try the above and to post your findings. thank you.
After using 4.1's for a while I have noticed that the hotkey tool doesnt work in either OpenGL or directx anymore. |
