R9800XT - need HELP ..please...

Hi..

I've flashed my 9800SE powercolor to 9800XT every thing is fine..(works great no artifact no nothing...)
Rivatuner even shows it to be a R360 9800XT.

the problem is that nore OMEGA nore DNA or any other soft mod drivers want to enable the extra 4 pipes cause they dont recognize the card as an SE or something?!?!?!?.
so i get a 9800XT card with 4 pipes working.... (sad but true)

is there a way on this planet to enable the other 4 pipes for good??? by either hardware or soft ware???
is it possible to creat a soft mod for this card??? or is there a hardware change that I can do to enable them manualy??

I'm really looking forward for answers on this...thanks a zillion .

Me.

It means your card can't be softmodded.

i would have to agree with zerodamage. also i wouldnt even try and Flash a 9800 Pro or SE or NP to XT ! if you can get 980) XT 412 and 365memory from your SE then i would just overclock with softmod emabled from omega set. ! even if you flash the SE it will never be a XT also even under the same clocks the XT is faster. you would be better selling your SE and getting a XT!

Re:

hi people

thanks for you replies.
I'd like to make a few things clear.

MY CARD IS FULLY MODABLE VIA SOFT MOD.

with original SE bios it can o/c to 425/780 with stock cooling no problem scores in 3DMark are about 5700
after O/C to 420/780 stock cooling scores of 5930 no problems and stable.

with 9800PRO bios flashed on it it scores 6100 with no O/c and got up to 6350 with O/c of 425/780MHz.

in all cases all 8 Pipes worked great via softmod.

what i'm looking for is to enable the extra 4 pipes when working with an XT bios. then reason beeing is that my card show great potentioal with it cause even when running with only 4 Pipes it scores about 160 FPS in the first test of 3DMark. and thats a great score for only 4 pipes. and I only had to O/c to 410/760MHz..

so you see what I mean ...realy great potential...If some one would only help me with the SOFTMOD or HARDMOD I could enable the extra 4 and get a hell of a card...

Thanks a million ho great nation of moders and O/C'ers.... he he he..

What you need to do is flash back to the 9800PRO bios and use it along the softmod, that's the only way to get back the 8 pipelines, unless you plan on doing some soldering which will fully make you card an XT.
You see, the problem is that even if you change the bios and the card is recognized as an XT by windows, the internal ID still 9800SE and that is what the drivers are looking for, and the only way you can change the internal ID is by changing the position of some capacitors on the board. But please, don't aks me how to do this since I don't know, just ask around in the tweaking forum, some hardware modder may help you better.

Even if you know what do you you have to have the specail skills. I have the skills to do it, but the thing is it’s a lot harder then it looks. Unless you done a lot of soldering I wouldn’t even consider it as an option. Unless you ready to accept the fact you will most like brick (aka. kill) that card if you error.

Re:

hey CowBoy.

well I did solve the problem with the help of OMEGA and we found that it was a much easier thing to do the first thought.

all that was needed to enable the extra 4 pipes on an SE card flashed with an XT bios was to use OMEGA's moded drivers
the only thing that was missing was a new ID that needed to be programed into Omegas INF files in the drivers so the install could be automatic and VUALA....there you have it...all done
I now own a great looking XT card that I only had to pay 240$ for instead of 500$
I would point you to 3dmaxx.net forum their you can view many of my test results in benchs .. 3Dmark03 about 6390 with a little O/C - reason being I haven't upgraded the cooling on the card so I dont want to burn it..

as of now it passes tests at clock speeds of 450/780... after I add MEM sinks and a VGA silencer and another fan to it ..I'll be able to keep these scores for good and maybe higher.

I'm also considering water cooling for the card and CPU but the damd thing COST 250$ here in my country...
and I'm not going to spend so much on a watter pump..?!?!?

well bye for now..
:-)
