2*CRT+TV= Playing lottery (*grumble*

Hiyas.

My first post here, although I think I should've posted this a long time ago.

Is anyone else having extreme harsh time when using Radeon 9000 (or similar) with two CRT-monitors and TV-output? I mean, using two monitors and when _trying_ to watch movies, turning off secondary monitor and then turning TV on.

I can honestly say, after viewing some dozens of movies, that toying with both Catalyst and Omega drivers are very close to playing lottery. You never know whether you get the regular primary screen's advanced settings on when pressing "advanced settings"-button, you never know whether you can turn split-screen (or whatever it is called in English) off without any extra semi-panic mouseclicking, you never know that when you've won the granx prize (secondary monitor is off, advanced settings in primary monitor actually show up so you can choose to turn TV on and it actually shows an image) who it actually happened. My personal record for getting TV-screen up'n'running is about twenty minutes of brutal mouseclicking.

I've had these problems with my Radeon for almost a year now. Whenever graphics card comes to topic I'm forced to say that I rather killed my children than bought another Radeon. No matter if they're faster than nVidia or whatelses but the useability gets zero stars from five. Actually programming graphics card's drivers might be a good idea.

I dont do games so I couldnt care less about the speed they offer, all I'd need is even a semi-finished set of drivers that did they job without me losing my patience.

Switching to Omega drivers helped some time, but nowadays I'm again forced to rent VHS-movies as I dont want to spend an evening trying to win the lottery.

So, has anyone had severe problems trying to view telly with Radeon, or could it possibly be that my card is broken?

Thanks for help/opinios/comments in forehand,

As far as I know you CAN'T connect more than two devices at the same time since the ATI cards only have 2 RAMDACs, for that you would need a Matrox triple head card.

Hope this is the info you need...

According to the manual, I recall, 9000pro can have three outputs on at the same time:CRT-monitor, TFT-monitor and TV. I'm using two CRTs, so I need to turn the other monitor off (from the graphics card settings) before turning the TV-signal on.

Sounds all easy in theory, but the reality is far from it. I attached an image to see what is going on.

ie. Two monitors on: Primary monitor's advanced settings are where they're supposed to be.
Secondary monitor off: Primary monitor's advanced settings are gone.

It doesnt always do that, and usually I've managed to get signal to TV. The only problem is that I have no idea how to do it. Twenty minutes on insane mouseclicking on every single checkbox usually does the trick, but I assume that is not the way it was meant to be?

This is the case with Omega drivers. These are minor problems when compared to the ones I had with Catalyst -after switching to Omega this is about the only problem I've experienced - and fortunately I only watch movies from computer a couple times a month
