Is this a driver problem?

I've been noticing some non-smooth movement in the game I play (RTCW). I also hear an occasional static sound. After being on a server for a while(1-2minutes), I notice that that my problem dissapears.

Does that sound like a driver problem, or something else.

Donator
All I really know to tell you is, update all your drivers. Video, sound, motherboard, and see what it does.

Turn off any background programs that you are running. They take up system resources......some take up more than they should.......

ZTaylor? You would not happen to be ZTaylor from the Dead Presidents? Just wondering.

BTW your problem sounds like it could be either PunkBuster lag or Sound Card related. Try updating or uninstalling and reinstalling your sound card drivers. If you want some help tweaking PB let me know and I can give you some settings that will reduce the lag caused by PB scanning for violations.

hohum will become famous soon enough

Sounds like punkbuster to me too, try setting pb_system to 1 instead of 0 - that may alleviate the problem a bit. You'll need to set that before joining a server though, otherwise it's locked.

Yep, you can also try /pb_sleep "500" This sets the time between scans to 500ms.
