question

Hello there. I have a minor issue with my radlinker. I installed the new omega drivers yesterday and radlinker came with the package. My drivers work fine, but there's one thing that's bothering me. Under the clock rates tab in radlinker, it says "Video controller (VGA compatible)" in the box instead of "Radeon 9800 PRO". Isn't it supposed to say the name of the video card? Is this a problem?

??? Counter-Strike Source question

@ ChrisW..

Because I have an old 1996 UniSys 21" Screen, CSS is too dark even with gamma on 1.6 (highest setting). I've tried several things to fix this: Adjusting 'Game Gamma', 'Desktop Gamma', brightness and contrast in Radlinker and they all didn't work (besides giving me an overbright desktop ). The only thing I can do to make CSS barely bright enough is to put my screen's brightness on max (which, again, makes my desktop annoyingly bright ). When I came across this thread I was really happy because in your guide u describe how to adjust settings for in-game so I thought this would be the solution.. but, unfortunately, putting my screen's brightness to max and reducing 'Desktop brightess' to -25 in radlinker doesn't change back the brightness after I quit Steam (also the tray icon).

Could u please tell me what I would have to do to make my CSS brighter (I haven't been able to find any config.cfg commands like gl_overbright for CSS) without getting a headache from looking at my desktop?

Tanx in advance!!

Wooh new version!

I've wanted to mention this before but I forgot, hmmm, the thing is I can't download the file from the RadLinker website by clicking on the link, I have to copy/paste it into Explorer... might have to do something with frames?

Also the most bizzare thing ever... when I type RadLinker in Google, I get a blank page, Google dosen't finish loading! Ehe So before this I used to just come to DriverHeaven and open this thread to get the homepage link... but I tried to type RadClocker in Google yesterday and that worked, so I can find it that way. Hmm, even Yahoo and MSN search don't work with 'RadLinker' for me, that is some weird stuff.

ChrisW,

I'd like to say thank you for radlinker. A lot of people seem to complain, but I've had great success using your program with my x800 xt pe. I appreciate your hard work.

Hi Chris,

Im having some problems with Radlinker. First, ever since installing this, i always get a windows installer popup when i run any application or rightclick to bring up any popup menu on the desktop. It just flashes configuration screens in windows update for Radlinker (Preparing to install Radlinker). I dont have any problems with the installation process, but I keep getting these things constantly and its extremely annoying.

Next, my 3D screens are dark. I try increasing the game gamma, but the settings do not stick. I used to be able to set the 3D contrast and brightness before the omega drivers integrated the radlinker into its settings. Now i cant increase the brightness for my 3D games which makes Flight simulator too dark to run in fullscreen mode, and simcity 4 too dark.

Can you provide any help for these issues? I really appreciate it. I am using the Omega 4.12 beta drivers on an ATI 9700 Pro AIW card. Thanks.

Chris

anyone know how to solve the custom radlink problem when you exit a game where it doesn't return the clock speeds back to bios default? The system just stays at the clock speed the game was OC'ed at.

Thx.

What games does this happen with? If it's a Steam game, it will not restore your clock rate until you exit out of Steam. If you have more than one custom setting/RadLink running, it will not restore the clock rate until all of them are closed.

What version of RadLinker are you using? The installation problem should be fixed in the latest version.

Try this test version and let me know if it fixes the gamma problem:

Yes it was because of steam.... Would u happen to know a command I can add to the radlink shortcut so that when I exit a steam game it will exit steam completely? Many Thanks!

The test version did fix my gamma setting problem. Now the settings stick. However in flight simulator, changing the gamma doesnt really affect the game. It was the contrast and brightness that affected the settings. Basically what I would like is to have the same colors on my non 3D desktop to be the color settings i see in my 3D games. Same brightness, contrast, and gamma.

And yes, the windows installer problem still exists with this version. I was using version 2.026 with the omega 4.12 officials before installing your test version. If i uninstall radlink, the windows installer popups completely dissappear. Could there be some remnant registry entries from previous versions that are affecting the current installation and causing this problem? I will soon have to revert to either older Omega drivers, or the official ATI drivers to get rid of these popups as they are affecting all the users of my PC.

Thanks for your help Chris!

Ok, try this version and see if it fixes the installer problem. I changed back the only other thing I changed in the last version, so it should install just like the 2.025 version.

It didnt solve my windows installer problem. I have had these problems with every version of radlinker since Omega integrated it into its driver package. The first version i believe i had installed was 2.015, then 2.018, then 2.025, 2.026, and now your test 2.028. The problem exists with all of them.

Are you running some kind of registry cleaner or have some kind of program running that removes registry keys or files? The only reason for seeing the Windows Installer popup is if it has detected something it installed has been manually removed.

Posted this problem in the Omega drivers threads, but it seems to be a Radlinker problem. Am I the only one having this issue?

When I enable custom settings or create a radlink for a game, then boost the gamma or brightness for the radlink, it launches the game fine with the increased gamma. Then, when I quit the game, the gamma gets set back to normal. *BUT* it's not really set back to normal... if you look in the control panel, it's still set to the higher number and will immediately brighten the screen once you quit the control panel.

This happens with both the Omega version and the standalone Radlink with plain vanilla ATI drivers. It's not a huge deal, but it is annoying, because when you reboot the brightness/gamma gets displayed at the increased value because it was never reset properly by the radlink.

That should be fixed in the test version I posted a couple posts up (2.028). Let me know if it isn't.

Nope, still does the same thing.

*update* correction, now it works fine. Still seems a little confused on rebooting but it does fix itself.

I have *no* idea what the problem was. After switching back to ATI vanilla cat's I noticed a sluggish feeling, so I ran dxdiag and found agp texture acceleration had been disabled. Installed updated mobo chipset inf's, ran the smartgart utility (where agp read and write was disabled for some reason), retested and enabled them, rebooted many times, eventually got it re-enabled in dxdiag. And after all that, the test Radlinker successfully changes gamma/brightness back when a game ends. Totally bizarre!

Yeah I do use a registry cleaner. I use the advanced system optimizer. However, If i remove radlinker, the popups go away, and when i install it i see the popups regardless of if I use the registry cleaner or not before or after. How could i fix this problem?

I keep getting these warnings in the Application Event Viewer logs...

Detection of product '{238ABEB6-42D2-4DD7-9928-DE8431519C61}', feature '_MainFeature' failed during request for component '{FD739813-3020-4F5E-856E-C3E9304A44D4}'

I think this is the cause of my problems but i dont know how to fix this...

Some part of the RadExe.dll module is being removed. Windows Installer should run and reinstall any missing parts automatically.

Hi, I am having an issue with all ur versions of radlinker, it will oveclock fine but when I go into standby and then resume the screen becomes all messed up or sometimes won;t come on. Now this will not happen if I do not overclock OR I use the original mutiplier (6.75), it would be really nice if this could be fixed. I have a Mobility Radeon 9600 Pro (I have also tried many diferent drivers including omegas, dna, ati, optz, unian, ect

Windows installer is running, but it is running all the time! There are also events in the logs that say Radlinker configuration successful, but it still keeps running the installer like 3 times in a row for every application i run, every popup menu i bring up, everything... On startup of windows, forget it... it runs like 50 times, 3 for each application or process that is starting up. It increases my startup time trifold!
