Omega's 4.2 vs DNA's 4.3 vs Cat 4.3

Omega 2.5.22 (Based on Cat. 4.2) vs DNA 2.2.4.3 (Based on Cat. 4.3) vs Catalyst 4.3

This isn't an official bench or anything. I ran one test to see the fps difference. Just figured I would share this information with everyone. Personally, I can't wait for Omega's 4.3!

Updated: Added Catalyst 4.3

Halo: Combat Evolved

OMEGA 4.2 1024x768 Average frame rate=32.67fps
DNA 4.3 1024x768 Average frame rate=32.40fps
CAT 4.3 1024x768 Average frame rate=31.85fps

-----------------------------------------------------------
3DMark03

OMEGA 4.2 1024 x 768 4463 3DMarks
DNA 4.3 1024 x 768 4527 3DMarks
CAT 4.3 1024 x 768 4184 3DMarks

-----------------------------------------------------------
ChameleonMark

OMEGA 4.2 1024x768 glass= 175.676 fps, real= 184.34 fps, shiny= 175.573 fps, Average= 178.530 fps.
DNA 4.3 1024x768 glass= 171.543 fps, real= 177.659 fps, shiny= 171.543 fps, Average= 173.582 fps.
CAT 4.3 1024x768 glass= 170.565 fps, real= 176.714 fps, shiny= 171.642 fps, Average= 172.974 fps.

-----------------------------------------------------------
3DMark2001 SE Pro

OMEGA 4.2 3DMark Score 7304
DNA 4.3 3DMark Score 7342
CAT 4.3 3DMark Score 7287

Summary

All in all, everything seems good. I'm not sure on the ChameleonMark, it dropped a noticeable amount of fps with DNA's 4.3. Apparently it has to do with the Cat 4.3 drivers.

Just to make it clear, I'm not judging drivers. I'm just posting benchmarks that I did on my system. They mean nothing, I just thought I would share it with everyone.

I had nothing else to do.

For me it's not much of a boost at all. I am using DNA's until the new Omega's come out, I just wanted to test the DNA drivers, but since I don't have a problem with them I will wait for the new Omega's.

Maybe next time I should keep everything to myself...

You are welcome to post whatever you want within the site guidelines, I was merely reiterating that I get alot of complaints about these particular "V's" threads from members here who have no respect for or interest in DNA drivers and hate wadding through threads which unfortunately generally turn into flamefests.

It would be wonderful to have nice open debates on drivers but ive found when DNA are involved it quickly turns into a bickering session with alias accounts opening.

If people wish to discuss these drivers in this thread thats fine, but keep it civil, im just making sure people know that im clamping down on aggression in here (not aimed at anyone who has already posted in this thread).

I really don't understand why people turn threads into flames. It's everyone's personal choice which driver to use. It's everyone's personal choice to ignore threads that clearly say that they are about the DNA drivers in the subject line. And it's common sense to put that information into the subject line. Conflicts between persons should be sorted in private betwen the parties involved. No need to drag it out into the open. Especially not since it's 200 % certain that threads that deteriorate into flames get locked.

call it blasphemy but I went ahead and installed the DNAs well after all its a free world like Zardon said, anyway this is my first time with them and to tell u the truth all this talk here had almost made me certain that i was on the way to formatting my HD after installing the drivers, anyway the install process went smotthly and I have had it running on my machine for a few good hours w/o any crash or loss in performance. I dont say I have become a DNA/KS fan overnite but his drivers sure look ok as do all the other flavors and it merely a matter of preference which one to get, certainly all these benchmarks are just like colored glasses, u look at somethings in a different perspective, and anyway a few lost or gained points in 3dmark or ut2004/halo dont really matter in the real, what really matters are if u can play a game at ur desired settings w/o any loss in performance and surely u r more limited by hardware then by some tweaks in ur drivers...

I think it has something to do with the Cat 4.3 drivers, everything appeared fine, but it's just a fps drop with both sets of 4.3 drivers. I did run Doom III tests with both the 4.3 drivers.

Doom3 leaked E3 version ('light versions')

DNA 4.3 1024x768 102.4 seconds = 29.1 fps
CAT 4.3 1024x768 104.8 seconds = 28.5 fps

Hopefully the 4.3 Omega drivers will be better. So far, the Omega 4.2 drivers seem to be better than the 4.3's.

HOw about goin after the repeat flamers instead of just closing the thread? I'd like to be able to read a benchmark without the usual flamefest too, but simply locking the threads only encourages it.

I don't like this thread, I'll crap on it till it gets locked....Now if doin that a time or two got em some time off.....

As for drivers, I'm running UniAN 4.2 and impatiently waiting for 4.3s

I think that is the point, crap on threads you don't like until they get locked. Very childish, and annoying as hell to those of us who want info on the various driver tweaks out there.

and some of us have gotten tired of when killersneak was having members of his forum sign up over here under multiple names as well as the multiple names he had himself and was flaming omega who is one of the admins here.

thats why so many of the ks/dna threads go south.

hes gone alot of bad crap here on DH and on Rage3D and so theres alot of bad blood springing from that so for some of us its offensive to even see anything about him on DH

personaly, I could care less who did what. I have an ATI card and I want the best out of it. Maybe people need to stop being fans of specific drivers and start enjoying what they have. The worst thing you do is start rummors. You say this and that but every time you say it you dont back it up. Someone says someone did this and that but your hearing it from another source and dont even bother to get real info about it. The admins should take advantage of their powers and do temp ip bans. Its the only way to teach a child how to grow up.

Well thats simply because there are very few repeat flamers, most of them we get immediately and their posts removed - I dont think people understand what exactly happens while they are offline - the moderator team on this site is probably one of the best on the net!. What alot of people dont understand is closing accounts and/or banning IPS doesnt stop the same people using proxies and coming back in the NEXT thread someone starts and spouting more rubbish and childish insults. this is why i have such a low threshold for these threads now.

Anyway this is Driverheaven which is technically Omegadrives support forum, we arent here to support or promote DNA drivers in any way. He has his own site for that - and guru3d and rage3d, plenty of bickering over there.

Omega has his new drivers out, go try them - and ejoy the peaceful atmosphere of Driverheaven.
