Latest catalyst drivers ruined my brand new card! Please read

The new catalyst drivers give my card weird graphical glitches such as squiggly lines and boxes flashing across the screen every so often. The card was working fine prior to this, but I wanted to try the new drivers because I heard they were really good. I tried reverting back to the older drivers, but I still get the graphic errors. The only way to get rid of it is to lower the speeds in RadLinker by like 30 points. Is there any reason why the new catalyst drivers did this to my card? I just bought this card in March and the problems only happened AFTER updating my drivers to the latest catalyst set.

Here are my specs.

Intel P4 2.4GHZ
1 GIG RAM
ATI Radeon 9800 Pro

Did you had the card overclocked? If so was it also overclocked when you installed the new drivers?

Run DriverCleaner to clean out all related driver files and then try installing again, to see if it helps. The drivers cannot damage the hardware like that anyway, so if you are lucky there was just something that screwed up with the driver installation. If you are unlucky your card just happened to get some physical problems just now. If so then check the cooling and such before sending it back on warranty for a new card.

yeah, I've used drivercleaner already. Even reinstalled windows xp and it's still no good unless I clock the card down, which I shouldn't have to do. I had a Radeon 9700 prior to this and upon installation of the catalyst 4.3 drivers...BAM, card starts getting artifacts. Used driver cleaner, reverted to older driver set, still artifacts. I really dunno what else to do. I'm just going to return this card to Best Buy and never install catalyst 4.3 ever again.

I don't think it's the drivers but the hardware itself. The card could've been defective from the get-go or the card could've deteriorated due to rough handling by you or a high temp inside your room/PC case.

See if the graphical glitches go away after you open the side of your computer case and direct a fan to flow inside it.

Crash Override is an unknown quantity at this point

gimme a complete run down on every piece of hardware in your PC and I will see if I can track down what the issue could be.

sounds to me like its a coincidence that its a driver doing it .

I would guess power supply is causing the issue but we will see once your specs are posted.
