Here is a snippit form Gainwards WOLFRAM TISMER (nVidiot)

"So I'm sitting here looking at the benchmarks in the X800 Pro and X800 XT Platinum Edition preview and recalling a conversation I had with Brandon when he arrived in Toronto and attended ATI's press event. He came away with the highly erroneous impression that the X800 would be faster. Unfortunately for him, his own article proves me correct. The X800 XT isn't faster than the 6800 Ultra. In fact, ATI didn't even have the minerals to bring the real XT to the party, instead they come to the table with a Platinum Edition card. Why would you bring a ringer, unless you're scared that your regular product can't measure up to the competition?"

It's not the first time Gainward have sent out this kind of crap either. Stay away from their products. On a side note, that quoted article on Firingsquad is pretty funny, as the game editor dude thinks he scores any hits in the discussion.

The guy isn't an Nvidiot, he's simply in a fairly unique situation...

Gainward sells vidcards with Nvidia chipsets for a very good reason. If Gainward were to attempt to sell ATI chipset based cards, thier prices would be higher than ATI themselves are, which is a fairly impossible to market situation.

ATI has managed to not annoy thier OEM's, simply because they are priced higher for thiers, than Sapphire and all the rest can sell them for. Since Gainward has always attempted to sell "upscale" vidcards, thier prices would be equal to ATI's if not higher, if they built cards with ATI's VPU's in them, so this guy has nothing to loose by spreading as much FUD as he can about ATI's new product line.

The fact that a rep from Gainward said this, is not surprising... The fact that the Inq thought it was worthy of posting is.

He might as well have said, the X800 series sucks, because with the Gainward business model, we can't make them and sell for a decent profit.

I actually have a Gainward GF2Pro "Golden Sample"... It was a very nice card in it's day, and still works just fine, but nothing Gainward sells will ever be cheap, and my GF2Pro wasn't either.
