The driver set has been updated to include a softmod for X800 pros to XTs, anyone try it yet?

Sounds like a scam to get people to download a junk driver set. If a softmod is possible, wait for Omega to do it. I do not think it is possible however.

from what I can tell ati clipped the pipelines on the x800s, so soldering or conductive paint is the only way....no softmodding

I doubt it'll work. like pr0digal jenius said. Ati cut something on the chip so it wouldn't work. I don't think a driver can fix that.

i was in the IRC chat room and i asked about it.
the main problem was the softmod from 9800se to 9800... it was giving lots of people blue screen of death

so they removed it until its fixed.

I think the whole driver package is bogus. I ask those that are working on a softmod, do not give up.

a softmod is possible, but not in the way they are thinking. remember the cards are identicle except for a rage theater chip, bios, and the core jumper possition in the top right corner. with older vid cards like 9500np and 9700np ... those cards difered the same way cept for a transister and its position. meaning its possible, but the way its been presented before by wizzard will not work. bios will have to be moddified as well as drivers. their are drivers out that will mask the name and use beta drivers for the performance bost. that will not make it 16 pipes, it will just say that, and those who belive it are just being mistaken.

I know that using the XT's bios will let up on the memory timings and allow for more RAM OC.

but it still has settings and problems with rage theater chip on it. so it will still cause problems meaning it will need to be modded.

well right now all you get is a warning dialogue that you can click off. I believe as time goes on these things will be modified and will improve. I personally would not hardmod a 400+ dollar video card. If i want the XT PE, i will pay an extra 70 dollars or so and get it.

I believe their softmod problem has something to do with the 9500 to 9700 cuz when I installed these drivers with that softmod Windows XP would just crash with blue screen after the loading.

yes the drivers currently have a problem with 9800se to 9800 softmod that casuses bluescreen... it may also be for the 9500 to 9700 as i havent tried it yet. /me not home. but thats the NGO driver problem that should be solved from now until next week. and they should also give credit to those with the ideas of the softmod's they are using.
