HDTV display problem with x800 pro

Last night I decided to hook up my pc to my 32" HD television. I was able to enjoy some gaming, but there was something that was bothering me. I couldn't get the image to fit on the screen. The closest I got was by dropping the resoultion to 640x480. The picture was still a little too big but it was better. I tried fooling around with the output formats (480p, 1080i) and I had no luck. I also couldn't find any adjustments in the control panel to move or shrink the image like you would when the pc is connected to a normal television. Is there any way to adjust the picture so I can make it fit on the screen better?
