Radlinker POSSESED !!!

Yup, its been demonically possesed (by the nVidia devils) hehehe

ANyway, I gots problems. Last night (real late) after a reboot, Radlinker attempted to reinstall itself at least 1million times, all with in 10 minute time period.

Didnt matter what I did, it was gona do. Anything I touch (Windows Explorer, IE, My computer, any program) it attempted to reinstall its self.

After fighting this for some time, I was finally able to uninstall the program. Problem solved, thought temporarily, as I have come to use it with all my games, and want it back

Basic info here: Asus P4P800, 2.4C@2208mhz, 1024mb ram(cas 2.5,3,3,8), Turbo, HT, Pat, 1024mb page file, Fresh install (5 days ago) including latest SP2 RC, fully updated and the ONLY drivers ever installed are the Omega 4.6's (since reformat). I have not been using radlinker to overclock and the OC box WASNOT checked. The Radlinker service was set to Manuel.

I have played many hours of gaming and during all the setup of the games, it worked flawlessly.

Chris, you got a handle on this issue yet? ETA to a fix?

I have had that happen once with a bad install, you may want to try it again, with someone close by to perform the removal of the nvidia demons though

I had that one too along with diskeeper server and pc-cillin2000, after installing a early sp2 beta.
Dont think its a radlinker issue

Well I had read some one else here on these forums, having the same issue. Didnt find out what the fix was if there was one to be had.

It is only Radlinker that has this, and weird thing is, it was a good install and worked flawlessly for days, lots of game play and all. No issues noted till that one reboot. No errors noted in Log except the one dealing with Radlinker, which I didnt save (this was like at 4am, to tired to thing)

So hoping Chris has something on this, as I dont have a HighPriest qualtified in dealing with any NV demons

I get this problem if i remove this registry entry
Root : HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT
Key : Applications\radrun.exe
Entry : {KEY}
Value : {KEY}
Last modified : 16.05.2004, 02:11
Reason : Invalid item ("Obsolete software entry."), ignored because of the word "hkey_classes_root\applications\radrun.exe\" in the ignore list.

I use jv16 Power Tools and whenever I would remove that entry I would get that problem. Just make sure that u dont remove this registry entry. It has something to do with the installing mechanism of "Windows Installer" or MSI files

regards
farkas

PS : It's a known problem or side effect . It was mentionned before here and on Radlinkers forum as well.

Yeah, I had that problem too. Made repairing windows after a crash a real pain.

If you would paste the error message it gives you in the event viewer log (administrative tools/event viewer), I may be able to fix it. I'm having a hard time trying to reproduce this error.

I have since reinstalled it and had no issue yet, but once I do, I will take screen shots for you to see.

Hey Chris W.

Just had this happen again, and this time got some screen shots for ya!

This is a fresh install of WinXP about 5 weeks old now, got the latest Omega drivers (2.5.58) and installed the Radlinker that comes with it.

Screen shots in no particular order ....

BOOM BOOM BOOM BOOM BOOM BOOM BOOM

This happened on a generic reboot. The one Event Log notes something about the D: drive, there is no applications on D: its just storage and pagefile.

I have now uninstalled Radlinker and reinstalled using the options provied by Omega with in the start menu, and all is fine again.

I have had these problems many times with RAdlinker trying to reinstall itself. Sometimes happens when I'm installing or uninstalling another program, or during a restart. Has there been any fix?

Had the same thing happen to me today using the version of Radlinker that is bundled with the latest Omega's (2590). When I booted up my PC this morning, Radlinker went into an endless reinstall loop. I could finally cancel it out but then whenever I tried to open a program or explorer window, the reinstall loop would start all over.

I was finally able to uninstall the Omega drivers and Radlinker and reinstall from scratch. Working fine again but that was very odd
