3Dmark 03 Game 3 Issue with Catalyst 4.7?

Game 3 of 3DMark03.. I just noticed some sort of pixelated outlining around the girl..and her sword. All the other tests run fine.

In some scenes it's a black pixelated outline while her close up she's rendered fine.

Everything else seems to run fine as well including FarCry. It also appears to be only my 9800 PRO (Which is recognized as an XT) and not my bro's 9500 PRO.

P.S - This was mentioned in the Cat 4.7 Thread, but I might be too buried.

I'm running an XT

It came recognized as a 9800XT. It's the MSI RX9800 which is a 9800 PRO with a R360 core. I did not do any BIOS flashes of any sort to it.

The 9800XT I have here is fine. why dont you try reflashing back to the pro bios just for a test.

EDIT: just read it came already pre flashed.......

Hmmm... I'm thinking it could be the timings adjustments I did..but that doesn't explain why every other test ran fine and my games running fine.

I'm trying Cat 4.6 right now. I'll see if it's driver related first.

I'll be glad to send one, but I'm embarrassed to ask how? I've tried doing CTRL + print screen..but no good. I guess I'll try FRAPS. Unless there's a hidden option somewhere for 3Dmark.

Fraps will do it yes, but I didnt have an issue getting a screengrab with just "print screen" then control v into an editing application, even paint. (then save as a BMP), zip it up and send it on over.

Here you go.

Download here

Uploaded it for others to see as well.

I've confirmed this to be a 4.7 issue because 4.6 rendered it fine.

I was lazy! I just right clicked and clicked the add to archive command.. it called it FRAPS.exe because it was in the fraps folder. But I took several pictures for you.

To take a screenshot in 3Dmark 03 you must use (i'm pretty sure it's...) F12.... hitting printscreen doesn't work at all in the demo version... i've attempted this MANY times and pulled my hair out when i couldn't figure out WHY it wasn't doing it... BTW... almost likes like it's a transparent cutout sprite kind of image... interesting

3DMark isn't used in the same way by everbody. It can also be used to troubleshoot. I also use it for personal performance comparisons and a quick assessment of my system. Yes, some people go score crazy, but I'm way passed that. I was just running a stability run with 3DMark03 and I just happen to notice "bug". Stay tuned for my upcoming Benchmarking FAQ/Guide WooOOooo~

3dmark03 nature test is actually very good for testing GFX overclocking.

Exactly. The more, I roam the forums.. the more I find the same questions are being asked or the same misconceptions are evident. Inspires me further to get this thing I'm working on done.

So, Z.. this game 3 bug doesn't appear on your BBA 9800XT? I wonder if other vendor cards have this issue or just completely random.

ok, i would only enable the fil rate test to see the score, but i would let it run to troubleshoot i guess, but give random numbers as scores for everything else.

Yes yes, I was having the exact same issue with my 9800XT (non flashed) and 4.7. Otherwise the drivers are fine. For now I'll go back to 4.6 until a hotfix or 4.8 comes out

This is an issue I brought up in the Cat thread as well. And I have an ATi 9800xt.
I'm glad they're aware of the problem though.

...and in contrast......

I've heard many mention this issue (besides it just being in the Release Notes).

But I don't get this problem. I tried running it with all kinds of various graphics setting, it always looks fine to me....and I was LOOKING for the issue too. Hmmm.....
