Problems with Omega drivers and hibernating/standby resuming

Hey all,

I am trying to get the Omega drivers working on my Dell Inspirion 9100 laptop with the ATI 9700 mobile radeon. The drivers work great when I first boot. However, when I put the computer in standby or hibernation and then resume or come out of hibernation the computer the display gets all grabbled. This means that I basically all I can see is the mouse and the background is all grabbled. I have to reboot to get the computer working again. Using the vanilla ATI drivers, I can resume without problems. I've noticed that some others were having problems with this but no one has a possible fix yet. I would like to use the omega drivers because they seem to support powerplay better than native ATI Catalyst drivers (using the mod tool). If anyone has a possible fix to this I am all ears and fingers . I appreciate the hard work that went into putting together the omega drivers (note the little rear-kissing) and I hope that we can get a possible solution for this problem for me and others that may have this problem.

Thanks for the help,
Dillweed

I hate to bump this thread, but has no one else had problems with resuming from standby/hibernation using the omega drivers?

Yes, I used these drivers on my Acer Ferrari 3200 (Mobility Radeon 9700 128MB) notebook on a clean install of Windows XP Pro SP1 and after waking it up from standby mode the screen gets completely messed up. I unistalled these drivers and installed the standard Catalyst 4.7 drivers instead and the problems went away. I guess the POWERPLAY in the Omega Drivers 2.5.58 dosen't work properly.

Ok I'm only going to say this once....

His drivers cannot possible support every laptop feature...

The features your laptop has had is dependant on the maker and model of your laptop....

It's the same exact reason you can NOT get drivers for you laptops from www.ati.com .

Now unless you mod the sets your self for you specific laptop I doubt you’ll have much luck with any modded sets. You get the same problems. Because then If he were to enable one set of features and a laptop with out support for those features they will then have problems.

It’s a loose - loose situation….

If you expect full support for you laptops features you should visit your manufactures website and download their old funky drivers and use them instead LOL

Or mod the .INF’s your self’s ….I doubt anyone’s going to take the time to make a custom set from every laptop… so your SOL

No, I'm just saying that the Omega drivers implementation of POWERPLAY dosen't work properly. If you put it on optimal battery rather than optimal performance, the display messes up. It seems to me like these drivers dosen't reset the settings properly back to defaults after coming back from standby mode when running on batteries, e.g. resets the core/memory back to defaults, and this messes up the screen.

Having same standby problem also on P4P800 with 9800Pro. Problem is definitely with driver as same thing occurs whether I use Rage3d, Ati Tool, or Powerstrip. Only the newer drivers with the "Catalyst Control Center" causes this problem. Cat 4.7 and older drivers work fine. No point using the older drivers because of performance loss from just the driver.

Another thing, the card doesn't have to be overclocked while it's going into standy. As long as it has been overclocked previously - you can set it back to default clock and even close the overclocking program altogether - it will still not resume form standby.

I've searched everywhere, and there are lots of threads on this issue but no fix.

just to let ya know I'm having the same problem overclocked, UNLESS I use a mutiplier of 6.75 or higher (which I do currently to get around it) or use older 4.7 cats drivers.

I never have problems with standby/hidernation whenever I use the Omega Drivers. Maybe it's something to do with your system settings?

If you are using Powerplay, it is probably best not to change the increment value from 6.75. Perhaps Powerplay assumes the multiplier is 6.75 and resets it after resuming. It probably does not take into account for people overclocking their laptops.

I have a powercolor 9800pro 128 and when I use omega drivers based on 4.12beta and 4.12 final my whole screen turnes white after I reboot. Only after I play joint operations and reboot.

thing is I disable powerplay, and it works on a higher multiplier, weird
