Omega Install Issue - "Slow"

Hello everyone, I just downloaded the new Omega 4.7s and have been using the Omega 4.6's previously without incident.

From what I've read I can instal the 4.7s right overtop of the 4.6s, correct?

When I extract the archive and get the 19mb omega install file and run the exe, it takes an abnormally long time to load. I get the welcome screen, click next, and nothing happens until I ctrl-alt-del. Upon that the next screen pops up... at this point its asking me where to install so no settings have been overwritten. I just closed it down since this is not normal and did not happen with the 4.6's.

I've rebooted and defragged and the problem continues. Suggestions anyone?

Well I use Driver Cleaner and Uninstall everything first, then I install another Omega set. Try that also.

sp2 2162 is causing the problem, I have SP2 build 2149 here installed and is not causing any problems.

Driver installation very slow...

Im dont think this problems relate to the Omegadrivers since the problem can be seen after i remove the driver (to make way for new Omega 2558). After uninstall the driver, the pc restarts, after winxp finish loading, when it tries to detect my radeon, it takes longer time than usual. I can see hdd activities running very fast. long after that, when i finally gets to install Omegadrivers, the part when the drivers tries to detect the vga adapter, it takes just as long before winxp copies the files to their system folder. Same goes when installing the drivers for the "secondary". Im using a tweaking utilities for my winxp so maybe thats causing the problems. What options should i enable/disable? please help.

I am also having a slow install issue. Not using SP2 using SP1 Latest Build.
I am using the uniAN Cat's based on 4.7's.
I can install the 4.6 Omegas NP, Radliinker Just sits there after everything else installs.
I have a Connect3D 9200 256MB.
I want mey Omegas Back!!! These uniAN's got me a extra 1500 on my O/C from default Cat 4.7's of 6100 to 7600. I want to use Omegas these drivers choke a bit to much for me.

3D Mark 01 Score

Are these Scores ok for my system with this card?
I just added a old CPU Heatsink fan to my card for the hell of it and got 7600 so I am going out to get a 9600XT this week. Can afford anythig higher. Holla!!!

I change my mind mine I think that score alittle slow for that card. Because my 8500le card can do better then that around 9600 points on 3dmark01se. You might want try tuneup software. it's free for 30days hehe. Which version of 9600xt? 128 or 256?

Same here with the 2576 and 2590 versions. Running XP with SP2. The install takes over 15 minutes, it's quite painful. CPU is pegged to 99% (IRSETUP) and the only way I can tell it's ready to click Next is by watching. IRSETUP drops when ready to click next.

Weird. Not a problem with other Installshield progs either, I reloaded about 2 weeks ago and have installed a ton of progs since. Seems to be only with Omegas. Anyhow, not a major issue, since the Omega's rock! Just adding to the list of people that are having this problem so someone smarter than me might be able to fix it.

All though you should ALWAYS uninstall your previous driver before upgrading I also had this exact same problem with the Omega drivers for the past few releases before 2.5.76 (when Omega started to use the new installer and compression I believe). Advancing from one screen to the next was extremely slow but I never paid it much attention as it always advanced; albeit slower than hell sometimes. Still using SP1 so SP2 isn't the issue.

The problem has gone away with the last few releases however (at least for me).

As I said, I did a clean install 2 weeks ago. First time I noticed the slowdown. If you suggest SP2 isn't the problem, since you are using SP1, then perhaps it's something we are all running....

I'm running Window Blinds, Symantec Corporate Antivirus 9.0, Intervideo WinDVR, D-Tools, Outlook 2003. Now I do close everything I can when running the Installshield, but SAV 9 doesn't like to completely unload, although I disable Autoprotect.

My PC has an Athlon 2800 XP, OC'd slightly, running a Radeon 9600 NP, 512 megs RAM, SB Live 5.1, ECS K7VTA v 8 mainboard, Seagate 7200 rpm 10 GB system drive and Western Digital 7200 RPM 40 GB data drive, both running in DMA mode.

Like I said, maybe there's a common thread here....

The issue is very strange. As for something we are running I'm also using WindowBlinds, and various other piece of software but when this issue started I did what I usually do for gaming. I closed every single background application that wasn't needed and was left with just the barebones so to speak and the issue still occured. So as to what the cause is\was I'm completely baffled. All I know is that it stopped with the last 2 or 3 driver releases, including this one.
