Recently upgraded my GF 4200ti to a 9800XT, cleaned all the old drivers off and on the recomendation of a freind went and installed the latest OMEGAs.
Everything is perfect except one thing im not sure of. In display adapters (Win2k system/device manager) It shows 2 installs of RADEON 9800XT (Omega 2.5.67) is this Multimonitor support? if so how do i get rid of it as im only using one F77s Eizo 21" monitor. I have tried removing it, but upon bootup it just detects a new monitor and goes throught the wizard to install the drivers. I have a Tab in the Dispaly properties cleary showing a Monitor 1 and a monitor 2, but nothing im doing seems to kill monitor 2. I dunno if its eating resources from the 9800xt by forcing it to make 2 screens one of which i cant see/use anyway? thanks for any help ![]() Forgot to add its an MSI NF2 chipset mobo if thats got anything to do with it. |

perfectly normal..... all ati cards use separate drivers for dual monitor setups(even if you don't use dual monitor setups).
you will have this for all drivers official or omegas.same goes for removal.either way its alway instal x2. |

nope.... it should only be left open in the background using hardly (if any) resources.it will only come in use when a second monitor is connected.
the other option is to goto my computer and right click to bring up properties. hardware then device manager......open display adaptors and disable the secondary adaptor. but is not needed as i said it's only used when a second monitor is connected. and no youre are a long way from asking silly questions.as this is something you did not know...... here at DH is a good forum questions asked will always be answered....given a little time. welcome to driverheaven. |

indeed welcome, and as per your 2nd monitor, i'd leave it alone as it won't hurt anything, and disabling things is a common cause of problems later when you try to sue it and forget you disabled it

The Secondary monitor will be disabled by default.... sure, you can see it... but if you attempt to move it around or change resolution or other things while it's selected.... the moment you finish the change.. it'll ask you if you want to enable it... or else the settings will be discarded..
the secondary doesn't use any resources as it's shared with the primary... they are one in the same, just the video card has dual ramdacs.....
