UberLord will become famous soon enough

I have SP2 installed - and I've just installed these drivers.

Upon rebooting and logging in I was greeted with a black screen.
I waited 10 mins before rebooting.

Upon 2nd reboot it worked as before.

Quick notes - Doom3:
PDA - lines around text flicker.
Flashlight - didn't work until I pulled out a weapon and went back to the flashlight

These two issues didn't happen with prior drivers.

8/10 - They fixed a lot of usability issues with the new CCC. Especially with the check boxes and stuff. Still needs some work, but it's getting up there. As for the drivers. Good stuff.

CCC wont open ALL the time, sometimes i click and it opens, others nothing. I don't feel like trouble shooting it either to me it just seems like useless bulk.

Hrmm well installation went fine.. rebooted and everything seemed ok.

Right clicked my desktop went to properties and hit advance.. boom.. crashed

Rebooted

Right clicked my desktop went to properties..and it crashed again..

so I uninstalled them and went with the drivers that didn't have the new Control Center.. so far no crashes upon clicking the advanced tab.

I'm running Win XP Pro SP2 with everything up to date.

Uhm... not good for me.
Rated 5/10 - seems ATi have been more busy playing with the new control panel than looking at the drivers themselves. BF Vietnam is very choppy now, Joint Operations also more choppy... Back to 4.8

If I remember from reading on the CoH Forums, installing WinXP SP2 somehow fixed the lighting/flashing issues. Seems they forgot to tell ATI.

I just looked for the post with this info, but its scrolled off of the Dev Digest. I'll try it out for sure later. ^^

weird little prob here. Whenever i install the 4.9's (even the beta ones) and restart even after using drivercleaner and mobility modder(i have a laptop) i get the bsod that saids page non fault or something like that. But when i restart the thing its gone and its all normal and fine. Just a weird like occurence.

Same symptom here only even after unistalling the ccc, it still crashed. Had to do a System Restore.

Everything looks great except for one problem. I can't fix the Refresh Rates!! In the old drivers you would go into displays for moniters or whatever and force the refresh rate to match the desktop, or whatever worked. Now they're is only an option to force 60hz, even though 85 hz is selected for every other option. My moniter supports 1600x1200 @ 85hz and it has done so with drivers in the past. I have tried using refreshlock and refreshforce to no avail. Anyone able to help?

All works ok with SP2 installed until I select advanced under display drivers, the PC blue screens and reboots.

I uninstalled my old display drivers, ran driver cleaner, rebooted and then installed these new cats with the new ATI control pannel.

I have rebooted and tried again - same deal.

I then removed drivers, ran uninstall , ran DC, rebooted, installed drivers - same deal.

Soooooooooo, I then installed the same drivers with the old CP and all works

Its because you are using a 3rd party util that hooks into the advanced tab like radlinker, uninstall it and go get the latest version and CCC will work fine

Well once again, another flawless install for me.

Did you guys remember that you needed to uninstall the previous CCC AND ati control panel?

Do you have .NET installed and updated?

Ah well, the new overdrive tabs are pretty neat!

I get a warning when ever I try to open the CCC, it tells me "No ATI graphics driver is installed, or the ATI driver is not functioning properly, Please install the ATI driver appropriate for your ATI hardware" but the driver is installed properly already and I have tried uninstalling it, and reinstalling it twice, I guess tomorrow I will be doing the format/windows installation in order to get this new CCC working properly

rolleyes

I'm new to this forum, so can u bear with me. I downloaded and installed the new ccc panel and it worked with the omega 4.8's. I booted up again today
and my system was running ragged. Running UT 2003 was slow and hesitating.
3D Mark 03 was ok and so was aquamark 3. Performance was not good at all.
so I installed the new 4.9's with the new ccc panel. Same deal, bad performance. My system started to freeze up. I uninstalled everything and ran drivercleaner etc. reinstalled omega 4.8's and the old cp and everything is running smooth and fast. I also downloaded the latest version of netframe work. I 'm not to confident in trying the new drivers and ccc again.

I wish ATI would post a list on Windows XP services that need to be enabled for this thing to work... I know there must be more than JUST .Net- It would probably solve issues for 3/4 of the people that have them. You cannot just take for granted that people are going to be using the exact same configuration these days.

For everyone having problem with fixing the refresh rate under the new CCC,
look at here: http://www.hardwareheaven.com/windows-xp-radeon-display-drivers/55163-ati-ccc-refresh-rate-override-problem.html
That's how you fix the refresh rate in the new CCC.
I know.........it's a bit unintuitive place to put it maybe ATI can do something about it in the next CCC.

No probs for me with Cat 4.9... however MMC 9.02 that was released earlier... still doesn't work right on my aiw9700pro.

Exactly same behaviour with SP1 in or SP2, and same with Cat 4.8/4.9... TV doesn't run.

Hope they fix up MMC soon.

Catalyst is much more refined than MMC.

be advised you can't use older files like older opengl files, or much older driver sets with ccc.... Don't know if thats the roo of you problem but something that people should know.

I would reinstall the 4.9's,just run the setup, it can be found here
C:\ATI\SUPPORT\wxp-w2k-CCC-8-051-040825a-017633C\Driver\
that and then reboot....

No! Overdrive requires two things a overdrive table bios, and thermal sensor in the core the 9800 has nither, mabe the device id, if any is missing over drive will not show

But! some of the 9800's are comeing with R360 cores (the xt core) those could be modified to xt...

With the CS:sourse and these drivers my fps are rool'in, rool'in,rool'in
now pushing 86+ fps 1024x768x32 details on low, and performance slider all the way left...
