Question about find new hardware

I think this has to do with drivers so il post it in this section. Everytime I make a fresh install of windows the first time i boot up i get a bunch of found new hardware messages, one detecting plug and play monitor and one says VGA. They install drivers I think because after acepting plug and play motitor i find an entry in add and remove program that says ati display driver. Of course I want the latest display drivers and I don't think the ones windows install are the latest. Do i have to uninstall the ones windows installs before installing the ones from ati's website? And also I think ive tried that before and the ati installation halts and says that i need base drivers or something and to restart the install after I did that. i'm confused...

Just install the newest cat on top. And if you run into any problems, simply uninstall everything and reinstall the latest at that time.

Hello and welcome to DriverHeaven!

Here is an easy to do guide for you...

Download Driver Cleaner and install it.

First off, download the new drivers you would like to install.

Now go to Add/Remove Programs and Remove ATI Display Driver. DO NOT RESTART!

Now run Driver Cleaner, Select ATI, select Clean, and then click Yes. It is recommended to run Cab Cleaner after that, Tools, Cab Cleaner. It is not necessary to run Cab Cleaner though. Now RESTART and install the new video card drivers.
