DAC Type: Internal Dac(400mhz)

Greetings,

I've recently installed the latest omega drivers onto my laptop with great success but I have noticed that my internal dac has changed from 350 to 400.

I have a uniwill 258sa laptop with 512 pc3200, M10p (default core 351 and mem 202.5) graphics and P3.02ghz 553FSB (which I can highly recommend for mobile 3d gaming at a budget).

Just need to know why the dac has changed and will it pose any overheating problems?

Otherwise the drivers work fantastic and even preserve the max resolution display settings for my widescreen.

At stock I got 2644 in 3dmark2003 and with latest omega installed I get 2705.

Thanks in Adv.

Judas.

This is just the description provided to Windows by the INF file when the drivers are installed.

The actual speed in the video BIOS is still stock.

I have a mobility 9600P as well, and the same thing happens using Catalyst drivers - its just a generic description - the actual speed doesn't change unless you specifically overclock it.

BTW...thats a good score IMO.

My 9600P (344/178) with Athlon XP-M 2800+ gets 2446 with catalyst 4.8, and around 2440 with Omega drivers. Catalyst 4.9 is the best though IMO - 3dMark03 is 2442 or so, but the CPU score went up from 404 (omega and cat 4.8s) to 468! (cat 4.9s).

Overclocked I got 3050 for 3dMark03.

Cool, I'm pleased to hear it's just an .inf thing and my notebook isn't going to catch fire... Thanks for that.

Interesting to see someone elses scores with 3dmark2003. I've had a little go at overclocking with atitool but I'm not that keen on forking out $1000 dollars for a new mobo, although I have just bought an Antec laptop cooler which takes a few degrees C off the exhaust temps from the GPU (I've got a fairly accurate temp probe). So, I'm keen for some overclocking now... I know this is a driver forum but anyone got any experience for overclocking for the M10p?

I don't have inbuilt temp sensing for the card..only the CPU/mobo, so I don't push it far except to see what it could do in 3dmark.

I think doom3 is a good way to test its stability. I could run 430/215 no issues in Q3A and 3dmark - no artifacts, and only one mismatched pixel every 15 minutes in ATI tool. However in Doom 3, you would get completely black/missing textures after 5-10 minutes! Just shows how much more this game is stressing the GPU.

I played Doom 3 with 350/200 (my default settings are 344/178 as mentioned above) for over an hour and it was fine though. I'm prepared to push it a little more but not much.

I'm just happy I can play brand new games on the rig my work paid for lol.

my guess is that when modding the cat's to run on a laptop what happens is the INF ifnormation such as speed and such is drawn from the closest non-mobility match?

but yes..it isnt gunna cause any heat problems
