Mobility Drivers?

K, need some advice on the best Omega Drivers for the Mobility Radeon series. I currently have the following specs.

Mobility Radeon 9000 128MB
2.8GHz P4
512MB PCI 2100

I realize that there is a problem with the newer drivers from Omega (2567) and overlay accelleration with laptops, but when playing a number of games (namely Rainbow Six 3 - Ravenshield) I have at points, a 70% drop in framerate, especially in smoke filled areas. Is there a version that corrects this, or should I look into other drivers? Any pointers will be helpful, thx for your time.

Hello and welcome to DriverHeaven. Well, if the Omega 2.5.67 drivers are giving you problems you can always try the Cat. 4.9's or wait for the Omega 4.9's to come out.

Someone please help with this because I have the same problem. I have an HP laptop, 3.0 ghz, 1280mb ram, ati mobility 9000 . I upgraded my ram and still experiancing freezes with far cry. I would like to know if the drivers could help this? the ati card came with directx 8 and when installing far cry I installed directx 9. Maybe my drivers need to be updated because of that. I would like to know if this will fix my problems before I start messing with stuff.

Installing the latest Omega drivers should be the first thing you do. It will most likely fix most of your problems. If you still have problems, try using the Mobility Modder to make the latest Catalyst drivers work with your laptop.

I have an Inspiron 5100 laptop, and the latest Omega drivers work perfectly for me.

I have found less/zero issues using the patje-modded cat 4.9s with my mobility 9600Pro.

I have also noted better scores in 3DMark03 for CPU score (might just be my configuration), as well as better timedemo scores in Doom 3.

Sun glare caused crashing with the omega drivers in Gun Metal. No problems with the ATI drivers.
