100% Fan Speed

Hey,

First of all I would like to say thanks for the AWESOME Drivers!! I just got the new 4.9s installed but I have yet to benchmark or anything because I needed to ask you this first...

I used to use ATiTool to set my fan speed at 100% all the time because I don't care how loud it is and also becuase I have an X800 Pro Vivo, flashed to X800 XT PE speeds and 16 pipelines. When I installed the drivers, it thought I had an XT PE which is perfect but now that I have uninstalled ATiTool because of that recomendation in the Readme how can I set the fan speed to a constant 100%?
Edit-> If i dont have the fans set to 100% games and 3dmark03 crashes so I need this setting back on... Do I have to load ATiTool?

Thanks,

Mike

@ TheShadowWRX i would recomend using riviaturner for that. www.guru3d.com i belive is the site to get it from, or just install the newest version of ati tool, tho for some it has problems with the new CCC and some other peoples systems. good luck with that.

Thanks
This fixed the "texture corruption" problem for me too (Radeon 8500le here)!!! Thank you, lockves.

I've had the same problem for the last 5 or so omegasets as well and this fixed it. In the past, I had to revert back to official Catalysts because of this problem, but no more. Once again thank you, lockves.

1. Check the Device Manager and see if the 2 unknown devices are in fact the video drivers, I think those 2 are the WDM drivers if you have a VIVO card.

2. Follow the AGP acceleration instructions in the readme.
1. It shows up under Others Devices/ Unknown Device : location RADEON X800 PRO (Omega 2.5.76)

What driver should I use for that?

2. What readme?

Sorry to be a pain

I share lastest Omegas on all P2P networks I use, and I find a lot of people interested in downloading them. So, here are the links for Driverheaven forum visitors.
Note: I don't include myself as fixed source, since I'm on dial-up and my IP adress changes every time I reconnect.

Please leave the file shared after you have finished downloading, so people who download next can have more sources.

This is just an attempt to help reducing the bandwidth usage of Omega Drivers downloads. It's not much, but well, I hope some might find it useful. If anyone disagrees with this type of distribution, feel free to say it.

Now that I have to uninstall ATItool. How can I set up my Video Card pci latency to 32 without atitool? With Omega's new set.

This thread seems to covere it thoroughly: http://www.hardwareheaven.com/amd-graphics-cards/51186-lower-your-graphics-card-latency.html
On the other hand, when I just checked the PCI latency for my graphics card it was already at 32 for some reason.

You don't have to uninstall ATI tool. It still works.. All my latencies are still at 032 too.

Let me get a few points clear:

1. The Radlinker forced installation was done to FIX some issues currently present with the normal ATI CP and CCC, one of them being the dual monitor problems.

2. Radlinker will continue to be forced upon install on future drivers since ChrisW and me are working on some new stuff that CAN'T BE DONE with the normal ATI CP, since ATI abandoned the old CP in favor of CCC.

3. The Radlinker install was forced using the Omega Installer, but in future releases, Radlinker will be fully integrated into drivers and the error upon installation will no longer appear. This installation method was just a temporary solution.

4. For those of you having problems, SEE THE README (at my site), most of the problems mentioned here can be fixed by just reading and following the instructions in the readme.

5. I changed the AGP latency from within the drivers to use the frequency that have been set by the PC's bios, which is usually 32, thus, there is NO NEED to use any third party tool to set this.

6. To set the Fan speed, use Rivatuner, is faster and uses no memory to setup the fan speed upon boot. Also, I will be including this option as part of Radlinker in a near future.

7. The drivers install some options in the Start Menu and some people seems to have not noticed this.

8. ATITool has some very bad bugs, specially when my drivers are installed along with it, that's why I recommended uninstall, the Omega Drivers and ATITool don't match. Some people may not notice the bugs I mention, like the DVI and DDC, but I got TONS of emails with the same problems, thanks to ATITool. The only reason I included AT in the first place was JUST for the OC auto detection, which I think is great, but the author keeps adding stuff and has transformed into bloatedware, plus, he didn't want to cooperate and make a special AT version just for the Omega Drivers with JUST the clock detection feature, since that's all I need.

9. As you may guess, I DON'T posses every ATI card under the sun, so I can't diagnose and fix every specific card problem without your help. So if you find a problem that DOES NOT HAPPEN with the EXACT official ATI drivers version my drivers are based on, just email me to see if and we can find and fix the bug.

Now, for specific cases:

BTW, sorry about your problems, but it seems you have some errors in your system, and I'm not talking about the installation issues, I mean the problem that that SmartGart kicks in and reverts to 640x480, that's not normal, What options did you selected when u installed?

Lockves, thanks for your findings, the problem will be fixed for next set.

OxfordDon, Can u be more specific?

Icecream Man, you may need to do the whole Driver Cleaner process, the cards should not appear there, unless the registry got corrupted. Try the cleaning and let me know. As for the readme, is on my site, in the downloads page, as always.

RIV@NVX, thanks for the help there, but if you see the list of mirrors on my site, you will see that I added a Bittorrent test link, and so far is working great.

Hope that covers most of the questions...

What are the differences b/w these Omega Drivers and the latest DNA Drivers?

Do either of these drivers fix the problem in Farcry where X800XTPE's running in 8X AGP produce clipping/artifacting? I fixed this by turning AGP down to 4X, but am looking for an alternative fix to this.

Also, which drivers are better for Doom3? Thanks!

Well in that case it is a good thing. Yes it would be good if it auto installed Radlinker and it's good that it will in the future..

Are you going to be able to implement "AI" controls without the CCC?? That would be good if you could..

I have included 2 screenshots of that "line problem" in RB Rally. Maybe ATI can fix it in CATs, maybe not.. Any level of AA or AF will make it happen.. My guess is that it is a problem with game nor supporting AA or AF, bit hopefully it can be fixed through drivers.. This is w/ new Omega driver..
**also the drivers are working fine now- as is the CP..**

That's my big question. If the answer is "yes", we are in for a treat.

These drivers rock Omega. Thanks for the hard work.

Installed the new set of drivers last night. Beyond that Install Shield error everyone has been getting it went just fine. My system is running really nice and I got a slight speed boost overall. More game testing will come tonight for me personally (maybe I will actually get to PLAY CoD: UO) but overall I'm impressed.

AquaMark 3: 36,142 (slight decrease)
3DMark 03: 4,385 (increase)
3DMark 2001 SE: 15,141 (new personal record)

Overall it's even faster than the 4.8 set which is amazing. I overclocked some more to 351\317 and I got:

AquaMark 3: 37,348
3DMark 03: 4,513
3DMark 2001 SE: 15,412

I'm very pleased.

OK, first off, when I tried to play RtCW, I got a black screen, could hear the music, and the mouse moving over the start screen, when I tried to alt tab out, the start screen then appeared, alt tab back in, black screen again, rebooted and it worked fine. Then first time I quit the game, my desktop had gone to 640x480 (normally 1280x1024).

Another time I got the black screen with RtCW, I rebooted, and my desktop refresh rate had dropped to 75hz (from 100hz), and DDC had turned itself back on.

Another time with the black screen RtCW, I tried to alt tab out to restart, and the display simply garbled, had to hard reboot.

Now to be fair, none of this may be anything to do with specific drivers, I have had the black screen issue with previous drivers, though before it has been with Asheron's Call, and it hasn't happened for a few driver releases now.

Things seem to be good again now, still occasionally getting the black screen, but mostly not, image quality is excellent as ever, and Aquamark score has increased, so overall, I'm happy.

I just wonder if you have any ideas about the black screen thing?

I'd d like to say that I love your work Omega. I have been using your drivers since vodoo3000 day's and I am glad you contiued your work on your Ati package.

And now to the reason for my post. I had problems installing your drivers this time. I did the driver uninstall that comes with your drivers and then did the install. It asked me to overwrite a directx *.cpl file. then continued to install. I had no advance tabs at all and in the hardware control panel It showed "x" through the devices of my 9700pro. So I reinstalled the radlinker and it did not help. Then I reinstalled the drivers overtop and then everything started to work, but I did not get prompted for the dx*.cpl file again though. Just thought you should know and to ask if this is normal for your drivers to overwrite a directx file. I am running winxp pro sp2.

Thanks,

love your work.

If you don't have the advanced tab, look in the Omega installed file (C drive usually) and install the radlinker package. Reinstall DX if you replaced a file with an older one.. Should fix problems. Reboot after that and it should work, it did for me.

The file is not actually a part of DirectX but a control panel item that these Omega drivers adds as a tool to get information about DirectX in a quicker way than loading up the "dxdiag". So it's safe to let it overwrite an existing directx.cpl file and the question pops up because the system already had that file, for whatever reason. Perhaps from a previous Omega driver, though I have skipped a few versions so I don't know if they had it too. All is well at any rate.

Besides the installation issue I really do love this new set of drivers. Can't wait to test out some more when I get home; and to see the future releases.

*sigh* I don't know if this issue has been raised/resolved/known, but for some reason, I just can't instal the new Omega drivers... I'm currently running off the Omega driver that is based off the Catalyst 4.5.

I tried the one based off the Catalyst 4.8 and also the one based off the Catalyst 4.9... but... Everytime I finished installing and reboot... I see a BLACK screen after the windows xp logo... According to the instruction, it should take less than 1 minute. If not then it's frozen, I'd have to restart. I waited 5 minutes the first time... rebooted... waited additional 15 minutes.... NOTHING.... only the same black screen...

I wonder what is the cause... I'm using the new Sager NP3790 with the Radeon Mobility 9700 128mb. I can't seem to instal these new drivers, which I REALLY want to instal to take full advantage of the video capabilities...

I am certain that I have done the correct procedures to uninstal and reinstal driver with the Omega. I uninstalled the old ones, and then do the DriverCleaner3 with ATI selected. Rebooted(images looks crappy, windows detect new hardware, which I ignore and went forth to instal Omega driver). Doesn't work...

I'm running off Windows XP Professional with Service Pack 2

Any help would be MUCH appreciated.

I don't recommend you install the latest set on your laptop, see the readme for more info...

The drivers installed perfectly for me the first time around I guess im just lucky ;-) However I did not gain any performance increases, I have not gotten any performance increases from the last 3-4 omega sets, and im not sure why. They have been benching almost identical to the Official Cats.

Here are some aquamark benches all based on the 4.9s

Official Cats 27,200
Omega 27,229
Unian 27,778

I did not test 3d mark w/ the 4.9s, but w/ the 4.8s it was the same trend Omegas/Cats about the same and Unians were ahead by like 100 points.

What is weird is all of the 4.9 based drivers benched lower than the 4.8s here were my results from the 4.8s

Official cats ~ 27,700
Omega ~ 27,700
Unians ~ 28,200

If someone asks me what driver to use, i still recommend they try out both the omega and unian because i know a few people who had results backwards of mine. I guess it just depends on your PC. Keep up the good work and I do like the integrated Radlinker into the CP. I will prob keep this set for a while see how they work in actual games.
