Yay, I can OC my 9600 non-pro again! Thanks for another great set of drivers, Omega. I'm glad you hear you weathered the hurricanes OK.

first: glad you are safe - horrible pix that i saw on tv...

i also had the "command line blahblah" on install but now everything is fine.
i like the new radlinker - great job u2!
no performance increases here - but i think it is simply my machine

in fact i got a decrease compared to your last set
4.8:
aquamark: ~39.050
3dmark03: ~5.250
3dmark01: ~17.600
4.9:
aquamark: ~38.960
3dmark03: ~5.240
3dmark01: ~17.500

not a big one - just for the protocol
i guess i have to start overclocking my good old 9700pro

all in all another good omega - set
bye

I apologize I have to take back the first part of my post. The first time I ran aquamark w/ the omega 4.9's my Overclock didnt take. I went to explore the control panel a bit more and noticed my speeds were still at default. After i did my modest ~340/325 OC i got over 27,800. Which is higher than the unians however w/ the unians i used ATI tray tools to overclock and was at 340/325, and w/ radlinker its like 341.55/324.

Icecream Man, you may need to do the whole Driver Cleaner process, the cards should not appear there, unless the registry got corrupted. Try the cleaning and let me know. As for the readme, is on my site, in the downloads page, as always.
Hmm, I actually ran the new Driver Cleaner before I installed the new Omegas, I'll try again tho.

AF & FSAA Settings in Direct3D & OpenGL

Can somebody explain in detail about all the settings within Radlinker Advanced 3D settings. Most of us (I think?) only used to the usual choice of 2x,4x,6x FSAA and 2x,4x,8x,16x AF. And now with this new OmegaDrivers, there are even more choice low quality, high quality, forced, t2, t3 (temporal AA?). Please help. which settings is the best to choose?

I'll try. Firstly, in an effort to be very brief and simplified, I say in general don't touch the settings that are really new.

If we start with the Anisotropic Filtering section, the new thing is the "Forced" line of options, wich to the best of my knowledge tries to force trilinear filtering onto applications. The only real use for this that I have seen is with a buggy demo version of FarCry. So ignore this Forced mode for regular use and go with the normal Performance or Quality.

In the AntiAliasing section, the new thing is the T2 and T3 markings. The T2 mode is what you want to be using as it represents regular Temporal AntiAliasing just as had you enabled it in the ATI control panel. (see articles and threads here on this site for more info on what TAA is) The T3 mode takes TAA a step further but for what I've read and seen the performance hit can be much larger with little discernable effect. So keep to the T2 mode times when you want to use Temporal AntiAliasing.

The Texture Preference and MipMap detail sections hold nothing that is really new. All benchmarkings should be run with both at highest values. In many games it might be interesting to lower the Texture Preference one step to Quality, for a speedup with oftenly not too much of image quality degrading.

Z Buffer Depth - Typically don't touch. Default settings are in the middle for the DirectX tab and to the left in OpenGL. (the sliders)

VSync - nothing new.

The big box at the bottom. The settings are for troubleshooting or enabling SmartShader effects. Do not touch these for normal gaming.

Can anyone please tell me how I can set the AA to match a game's setting? I get errors when I play KOTOR, and was told that if I set the AA to match the game's setting, it would solve the problem. Thanks.

@ gweasd, try turning aa and aaf off. see if that works. ... if not then goto the games options, and see what the AA is set to in their, then set the control panel settings to reflect that. .... if u cant do that, then check the KOTOR forums or fansite forums.

This is actually my first ever post here, so please bare with me.

Unfortunately it's not really a praise to Omega for his brilliant work...
I have been away from the Omega for a while now, but the latest set looked to be promising so I decided to give it a try.

I did everything the way I've always done things, uninstallation of the previous set, reboot into Safe Mode and use DricverCleaner, reboot and install new ones.
First off these drivers installed two copies of everything (2 primary, 2 secondary), and when I reboot the computer Windows can't find the gfx-board.
So obviously I try to uninstall the drivers, and after few problems I finally get them not to show up in "Add/Remove Programs".
However, they must have done something to my system since now I can't install any gfx-drivers anymore.
If I use the setup file in the driver I get a message saying that I should install the generic VGA driver before installing Catalyst.
But if I use the Device Managaer to update the driver I get either a message saying Access Denied or Software not found.

Has anyone else encountered this problem, or more important, has anyone got a solution for this very problem?

I'm (obviously) a bit desperate for a solution since now without a driver I can't use anything requiring 3D-acceleration, or set the refreshrate above 43Hz...

You had some bad luck there Methroix. I don't think it happened at the fault of these drivers but let's try solve it anyway. Begin with uninstalling any display adapters listed in the device manager. Then reboot without trying to install any driver. Then when the system has restarted, let it sit there until it tries to auto-detect the card. Then it may try to find a "standard vga" driver and fail to find one, but that's fine so far because the card will normally still be designated as plain VGA. This is where you install some graphics driver again the normal way, this package or some other by running its installation routine. On an otherwise healthy windows installation this method should always work.

mkk:
I've actually tried all that, a couple of times now, and so far it doesn't make any difference at all.
However I choose to install the drivers I end up with either of the two error messages I wrote in the earlier post, mainly the "Access Denied" one.

No CP!

Hi, I've read your posts related to the Radeon Omega Edition. My problem is that i have downloaded a .zip file, extracted it and got a .exe setup file. I run it and follow the installation instructions. after the drivers are installed, 2 error messages regarding JPEG appear (these messages are mentioned before).

Is that RadLinker?

If so, I'm not able to install RadLinker (did a fresh install of Windows before, no RadLinker etc was installed)

You tell to reinstall RadLinker Omega Edition. The second problem now is, HOW? I just got a compressed .exe setup file (can't even decompress it with WinRAR).

Googled the net for a standalone RadLinker Omega Edition download, but didn't find anything. Maybe I'm too stupid to find it or understand what you mean ...

I don't have a CP now to configure my Radeon (AA/AF and so on ...).

Can you help me?

Thnx in advance - TraXter

OK, Here is what you need to do. Since this issue is due to the fact that permissions in the registry have somehow gotten gummed up, you need to reset them. Open up regedt32 (regedit doesn't allow you to set permissions), and right mouse click on HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE. Then choose permissions, and add yourself and administrators with full permissions. Before you click on apply, click advanced, and make sure you place a check mark in the bottom option to replace permissions on child objects.

This should clear up you issues. Make a snapshot of your system with system restore before trying this, in case you hose your registry while in there.

Good luck, and let me know how you make out.

ok use periods to make me understand ur sentinces better extermia

ok.. basically never use DNA drivers they mostly cause problems, as u found out.

to get tv functions using omega drivers, install the drivers then the WDM driver on ATI;s website, i think omega might have them for download too, not sure. get the newest ones from ati tho.

next off u must use the software MMC that came with your AIW. you can download updates from ATI.com too.

first i uninstalled ATI-Tool, Radlinker, Omega Driver 25.67 (+ drivercleaner) and the setup files,
then i installed Omega Driver 25.76 with this JPEG-error, twice!
now my D3D und OpenGL tabs are gone!!!
i've reinstalled Radlinker from the start menu und now i've got this "Advanced 3D" tab, but D3D and OpenGL are still gone!
are they now replaced by this Advanced 3D tab???

Motion, those tabs have been REPLACED in this version of the Omega Driver by the Advanced 3D tab. You will find the DirectX and OpenGL settings in there.

That's a good point- no "default" on some settings.
I never used the "quality or performance" slider bar, but I imagine many people do. I didn't even notice it was missing, but it is..

to many sliders... lol

i think its perfect. but an easy to use guide to question all of the options is in line for noobs which a wide array of omega users are.

for tempral aa i belive u should actually write out temperal AA 2x etc. isntead of tx2 or whatever it was.

also a help file and a link to the help file on that section would be in line too.

i think its great...lots of options, very compact, but still everything on one page including overclocing.
I agree however that he maybe should chose better descriptions for some modi, eg.
temporal AA and 'forced AF'.

Otherwise i dont give a **** how it looks since i usually use the control panel ONLY rarely...and functionality is much better than 'design'. (Otherwise i would have ATI CCC installed.) Its a good compromise between 'number of options' and 'easyness to use'...IMHO.

Very good drivers btw.. !

Edit: "per-game" settings is VERY nice, but i have problems getting it to work in ASE (all seeing eye) and MTA (multi theft auto)
no matter what executable i set the custom-options to it doesnt work.
(Ase starts mtaclient.exe and mtaclient.exe starts gta_vc.exe)

I always go for funtionality first, then looks

As for your problem with ASE, look here:

And for VC, just create a shortcut the the actual EXE, not the launcher, that will take you directly to the game and apply the options correctly.

Before you click on apply, click advanced, and make sure you place a check mark in the bottom option to replace permissions on child objects.

This should clear up you issues. Make a snapshot of your system with system restore before trying this, in case you hose your registry while in there.

Good luck, and let me know how you make out.
IT WORKS!!!
I can't thank you enough for this, you just saved me a reinstallation!
Now I'm a happy camper!

Now all I have to do is decide wether to give 'em a try again...
At least now I know how to right the wrong

Serious Problems with the New Drivers

These latest Omega Drivers have been giving me nothing but problems. I've been using Omega Drivers for a very long time now, been loving them, until this point. I don't know what happened with this release, but they seem to have lost their usual high-quality standard. In any case, I'll describe my problem.

I installed the new drivers from Omega, and got the same error everyone else does at the end of the installer. No problem. I did the install radlinker thing, so that I could access some graphics options in my control panel, since the nice old ones were removed... Unfortunatley.

Later on, I started to play Call of Duty United Offensive. The game was running quite choppy, and after playing for about 30 seconds I was unable to see anything but the massive amounts of artifacts on the screen. There was lines, triangles, and blurry crap all over the place, so I quit the game. I checked the temperature of my 9600XT, and it was at 41 degrees, dropping since I exited the game. The temperature of the card isn't that high, so why am I seeing artifacts? Afterwards, I played UT2004, and the game keeps on freezing after playing for a few minutes.

These 2 events have never happened to me before. I have always been able to play Call of Duty United Offensive on the maximum graphic settings, without any problems. I only started seeing artifacts after installing this new and "improved" version of the Omega Drivers. Same thing happened with UT2004, the game never froze on me before, until this new version.

Does anybody have any idea what is happening here, and how I could fix it? The only solution I have in my mind is to revert back to the previous version of Omega Drivers, since those never gave me any problems.

And no, my card is NOT overclocked, I have NOT changed the settings in RadLinker from Default.
