I installed the new drivers from Omega, and got the same error everyone else does at the end of the installer. No problem. I did the install radlinker thing, so that I could access some graphics options in my control panel, since the nice old ones were removed... Unfortunatley.

Later on, I started to play Call of Duty United Offensive. The game was running quite choppy, and after playing for about 30 seconds I was unable to see anything but the massive amounts of artifacts on the screen. There was lines, triangles, and blurry crap all over the place, so I quit the game. I checked the temperature of my 9600XT, and it was at 41 degrees, dropping since I exited the game. The temperature of the card isn't that high, so why am I seeing artifacts? Afterwards, I played UT2004, and the game keeps on freezing after playing for a few minutes.

These 2 events have never happened to me before. I have always been able to play Call of Duty United Offensive on the maximum graphic settings, without any problems. I only started seeing artifacts after installing this new and "improved" version of the Omega Drivers. Same thing happened with UT2004, the game never froze on me before, until this new version.

Does anybody have any idea what is happening here, and how I could fix it? The only solution I have in my mind is to revert back to the previous version of Omega Drivers, since those never gave me any problems.

And no, my card is NOT overclocked, I have NOT changed the settings in RadLinker from Default.

Check Advanced SmartGart Options and see if all AGP options are enabled.
Also, try re-installing the drivers on TOP of your current install.

In Advanced SmartGart both of the AGP options are enabled, and both of the PCI functions are disabled. My card is an AGP card, so enabling the PCI functions shouldn't help anything, should it? I'll try re-installing the drivers in a few minutes...

PS: Thanks a bunch for the quick reply, and for your dedication to the community and your excellent drivers.

Very Nice

Thanks Omega, these drivers are better on my system for game performance (feel) than the regular ATI 4.9's. Played Doom 3 last night with these and it was smooth as butter with all eye candy on. Tried a few other games and all was good. Gonna stick with these now, thanks again for your hard work and effort.

And what an ergonomic disaster it is too! Made me go back to the original ATi drivers and CP.

May have stuck with the Omega drivers if AA had been working...

Nhl2005

I have a 9500np-->9700 running new omega 4.9. So far everything I have tested runs better visually and performance wise except NHL2005 which locks my system hard. I can get through the menu's fine but my system locks hard every time before the puck even drops.

I was using the omega's based on 4.6 cat previously and NHL2005 was rock solid stable so I know it definitely a driver issue.

I using winxp sp2 on a barton 2500+ @ 3200+ abit nforce2-s rev2 768 MB DDR400.

I like the new drivers and would really like to keep them...any suggestions?

I could not get the ATI MMC working w/ these omegas. Before i installed the omegas i used driver cleaner to clean out the ATI WDM, and ATI drivers. I installed the omegas everything went fine and when i rebooted i got the found new hardware for the WDM drivers as usual. I then ran the WDM installer from the official 4.9 sets and everything seemed ok i checked in my device manager, everything was in there, updated, and working properly. I went to use the ATI file player and it wouldnt open. Other parts of the MMC wouldnt open either. I uninstalled the MMC, ran the driver cleaner for the MMC, and tried to reinstall it, and it still didnt work. I gave up and uninstalled the omegas and installed the unians again and it works fine again. The omegas dont have a special set of WDM drivers do they?

if you run SP2, you lose between 50-100pts... not a lot but it STILL slower in aquamark3

DOOM ]I[: just for kicks

Run#1 = 49 FPS
Run#2 = 58.6 FPS

not bad for a the aging 9800 pro... im sticking w/ CAT 3.8s as they provide the best performance for me... although not much faster than CAT 4.9s and OMEGA 4.9s

Hello, just installed the drivers.

I like to use the OpenGL swapper tool, but it doesn't seem to work with the latest 4.9 omega's. My OGL settings are still the same regardless if it's the new or old OGL driver.

Any ideas?

I've only seen the installation itself to be buggy; the drives themselves are rock solid after testing and running w/them for a few days.

Having issues with Radeon 8500

Hi,

I've installed a lot of Omega ATI drivers for the last 2-3 years - this is the first time I'm encountering an issue - I did uninstall the previous driver and ran DH driver clean 3.3 which seemed to have worked great.

I installed this latest Omega driver set and I'm observing the following:

- At the end of the driver installation, I noticed some windows MSI installer pop-up complaining about invalid command-line arguments detected during install. Install went on and asked for a reboot - fine. I did reboot and changed the resolution, etc - them I noticed there is NO more OpenGL and/or Direct3D panels in the advanced properties of the control panel - where did they go then?

- I'm installing this driver for my daugther who plays SIMS2 - previous set from a few months ago worked fairly decently - this one causes tiles not to be rendered correctly (i.e. houses roof missing and or half-rendered, etc)

I'm running XP SP1, DirectX9C - Radeon 8500

I'm going to reinstall some earlier version I guess - would have liked to know if anyone of you had some ideads about these issues...

Thanks in advance,

EDIT: Sounds like I found most of the answers in previous posts - will delete this post if I can get to resolve them

Hi,

I'm seeing the same texture corruption issue with a radeon 8500 - running XP SP1 - I can't find entries such as AGPTextureMicroTiling and/or AGPTextureTiling in the registry - I've another system where they are there but this one does not show them in the registry (did a global search) - weird!

It is a really weird problem, because i used tiling before and I never had it

The problem is described just about 5-6 posts ago. Just go up on the same page.

Thanks

Glad I solved your problem! Hope you can enjoy these AWESOME drivers now, because I know I am. Installed them over the weekend, without ANY issues, and they run beautifully.

By the way, I love the integrated Radlinker. It was my favorite tweak/overclock app, and I always used it to setup my video settings. Glad the OGL & D3D tabs are gone to, as now we have one concise location to work from.

Thanks for the great work Omega, these were enough to pull me back from DNA!!!!!

RadioSlacker will become famous soon enough

I only had a few tiny problems with this set:
Manually installing Radlinker I figured out right off the bat. And Radlinker Doesn't Suck.
For some reason, DirectX apps were all stretched sideways. I poked around for a bit and found that for some reason I needed to set FSAAPerfMode to 0. That was the only thing I changed from Omega's defaults to fix the screen warping.
And I had an oddball texture corruption problem, which fortunately I'd seen before. Set AGPTextureMicroTiling to 0, and it worked. Works fine with AGPTextureTiling still enabled.

My driver problems were probably due to the fact that my computer hails from the previous century, and I have a Radeon 7200. Omega remains the king of all driver modders.

i have a quick, possibly stupid question:

is there any way i can keep the ati taskbar application along with the omega drivers?

my reason for this is i use my lappy as my primary dvd player so the ati app let me switch between screen and display rather quickly and easily; multires, to the best of my knowledge, does not. so is what im asking feasable? or is there another program i could use? any help would be appreciated

thx in advance,

As far as I know you can still enable the ATi taskbar application with the Omega drivers. I also use TV-out and am able to enable the taskbar application for hot key switching just fine. You can do so from the options tab.

just installed Omega 4.9's and Ansio or anti aliasing will not work.... no matter what setting. just to see if it were a problem i loaded up ccc, and where you have the little preview of the quality settings, no matter what i chose the car and the foreground were still jaggy and fuzzy respectively.

My rig:

Asus A7N8X rev. 2.0
AMD Athlon 2500+ @ 2.2GHz
1 GB Dual Channel PC2700 (Crucial)
ATI Radeon 9800Pro 128MB (340/680)

WD 120GB Special Edition
Logitech Mx Duo
SyncMaster 765MB (playing at 1280x960 @ 75hz)
Windows XP Pro SP2

What can i do??

I'd just like to say that I'm on a laptop with a Mobility 9700 Pro and everything works great for me including video playback. Good work.

It works alot better than the official ones, for instance when I set up a desktop monitor resolution like 1024x768, it doesnt stretch the image out, it keeps the aspect ratio of the resolution and puts bars on the sides, which is great. I hated how the official ones for my laptop stretch the image out and make the games look crappy.

No problem happypants.

All you have to do is uninstall whatever you have now, reboot and preferably run Driver Cleaner 3, and then just install the Omega Catalyst drivers. You don't have to (and really shouldn't) install the Omegas over the normal Catalyst drivers. Afterwards just go into the driver options tab and enable the ATi taskbar app.

thanx for the help shinjikun, the answer was right underneath my nose the whole time...

on another note i found that using the omega drivers while running UT2k4 w/ the detailed textures option checked caused the nvidia logo at the intro to turn shiny black...this has no effect on the gameplay or graphics that i know of so i dont think its a bug but just wanted to make note of it

on another note i found that using the omega drivers while running UT2k4 w/ the detailed textures option checked caused the nvidia logo at the intro to turn shiny black...this has no effect on the gameplay or graphics that i know of so i dont think its a bug but just wanted to make note of it
