Well this is an awesome Beta I must say. I haver had noticable increases in CS:S Beta, Doom 3, FarCry, and others. My only complaint is that Call Of Duty United Offensive will cause the whole system to lock up completely after a few minutes of play, which sucks because COD:UO is game of choice right now. Nayone had a similar problem?

I can't really say anything, cept this set KICKS ASS!
Had trouble with 4.9 and Battlefield Vietnam - what can I say? These betas totally solved my problem and gave me a significant performance boost.
Regarding CS:Source - Video stresstest 90.5 fps on these betas vs 102.3 fps on CAT 4.8 @ 1024x768x32 everything maxed.
I don't mind the slight decrease in performance in CS:S, cause I'm finally able to play BFV without choppyness and Desert Combat, Joint Operations and UT2004 seems to have slight performance increase.
Thanks for these betas!

This goes out to Volcom929 as well :
That sounds just like my problem too, as outlined in a couple of posts earlier. The graphic corruption I experienced with these drivers on first install crashed Doom 3, and a reinstall of omegas or cats did not fix it, the game still crashed as if the 8.07beta was still installed. Hence my conclusion is that it contains optimizations a lá the Humus trick, and a reinstall of official drivers doesn't reset these changes. I eventually fixed the problem by way of several driver installs, I can't say for sure which install actually fixed the problem, but I think it was the cat 4.9 w/ old CP that made Doom 3 run again. After that, I reinstalled the 8.07beta, and it's now running very well
Now, whether it is Catalyst AI or software optimization, it does a great job of improving performance in OpenGL and/or Doom 3 specifically, although ATI should be careful to implement these optimizations seeing as a few of us have issues with them.
Lastly, the 256 MB fix seems to work its charm as well, the textures really look better now, less jaggys and sharper lighting and shadows

Has anyone tested these drivers on a 9800 PRo 128MB and if not, would it be ok to do so?

Thanks

I have a radeon 9800SE @ pro (so basically the same thing) These work great.

I was about to report that OpenGL works GREAT! Unfortunatly I have noticed a few very tiny things. Only in one game. Psychotoxic. In the opening screen where you see Angie standing there and light streaming through, sometimes there is a slight texture error on her stomach. Thats all. Only problem I've noticed.

everything else seems to be AWESOME

right on...ole skoo 3d01 went from 24,100 to 24,400 with 8.07
and 3d03 went from 10,981 to 11,555 with 8.07 as well,...for some reason catalyst 4.8 had best 3d03 score of 11,700...also for doom 3 concerns...8.07 improved playin performance without any crashes

I´ve read a few posts like this one and I´m glad for you to but it´s useless reading when ppl don´t write which drivers they are comparing with.

I keep getting a funny message "...not the proper driver for the card.etc".
Is there any help I can get from anyone who runs win 2k here .may be?.

All I have to say is this set of drivers is absolutely amazing! All my games (UT2K4, DoomIII & Far cry) run smoother and I get better scores in benches (3DMark03: + 100 points & Aquamark 3: + 6000 points (!!!) - both set to default) as well.

Great job, Omega and thank you very much!

EDIT: Sorry, but this message was meant to be posted in the Omega thread. That's what happens when you post too fast...

Interestingly enough..

ever since I installed these and then the Omegas, my Aquamark3 scores have been dropped steadily. Its gone down to less than 25k!!! Everything else seems fine...I'm getting nice scores in 3dmarks03, and 01SE, and I THINK I'm getting okay ones in 05. I dunno. I just dont know. My aquamark scores use to be so high, and now its oh so low. :-\

Are you sure no ones getting CTD now and then in Rome total war?

I switched back to the 4.9 and all was fine then I gave 8.7 another go and started to get CTD again.
It's wierd my dear.
