Should I make the switch?

Hey all. I normally use ATI's generic drivers from off of their site. I am a gamer, so performance is important to me. If I were to switch the those Omega Drivers, would I see a noticable performance increase in a game? I have a Radeon 9700 Pro. Would you recommend me to change

thanks

Yes I would recommend a change. The Omega drivers are stellar; the new drivers include Geometry Instancing, Catalyst AI (which isn't enabled in ATi's official drivers yet), and can can provide better speed\IQ than the normal ATi drivers.

It's a work of genius I tell you; genius!

Yea, I recommend the Omegas.

I don't know, I'm really happy with the Catalyst 4.9 drivers - they are the first drivers from either ATI or Omega in the 2 years I've had my 9700 Pro that actually give my system complete stability (albeit with AGP Fast Write disabled). The framerate I get in Doom 3 is nice, and at last the game doesn't hang on me!

When I feel brave enough, I shall venture into the new Omega drivers, but for now, if it ain't broke...

There's no harm in trying them. If for some reason you encounter a problem you could always revert back. In any event if you decide to try them let us know how it turns out or if you encounter any problems.
