Generic laptop problem
I've had this problem with all the Omega sets that i've used. What happens is the following. I'm running in battery mode on my laptop. I suspend the laptop to RAM. Then resume - and i have all these funny black horitonzal lines about 1cm long all over the screen.
I can resolve the issue without rebooting by going to the ATI Control Panel, going to the Powerplay options, disabling Powerplay (then press Apply) and then re-enable Powerplay (then press Apply). Can anyone shed any light on this? I suspect maybe some sort of registry problem? |

I have similar problems with my laptop when I resume from sleep. Hard to really get a screenshot of the errors, but I have just distortion in the graphics, with lines sometime going through them, pretty similar if not the same as you.
I have a 64MB 9700 Mobility, on an Asus M6Ne. |

Other than a bios update, and keeping your OS updated, there isn't much more you can do for these kind of laptop computer problems - other than using the manufacturers supplied video driver.
Laptop users often have unique problems with hibernation and video that can be tricky to deal with. Another question would be is it worth the trouble to use a modded driver like Omegadrive's or hang back with the manufacturer's driver. For me, it has been worth the trouble to use Omegadrive's driverset. I just don't use Powerplay or hibernate the unit - no great loss. But for you the situation may be different...
