Media Player won't run!
Hey everyone,
I'm hoping someone here can help me. I recently got a Dell Inspiron 9100 laptopn with the Radeon mobility 9700 vid card. Call of Duty and Doom3 demo wouldn't run, so I found about the Omega Radeon drivers. Downloaded them and everything is cool. (Dell has't updated there video drivers for quite some time). BUT now Media player won't play video, just audio. Well, I did some more searching and found out that a new verison of media player is available. So I downloaded that (V10). Now when I try and run Media Player I get an "An internal application error has occured." message and Media Player won't even run. I've uninstalled/re-installed Media Player twice and still the same error. I've gone onto the Microsoft Knowledge Base and found an article that addressed the error message. But the resolution was to edit the registry. When I went into the registry, all the entries matched up already. So there wasn't anything to fix. So now I don't know what to do. So any help would be appreciated. Thanks, Slim |

did u install service pack 2?
did u install it from www.windowsupdate.com ? try using a better media player, "media player classic" search for it on www.sourceforge.net - its far better, but doesnt include a playlist. zoomplayer is also a nice one, not as compleat or compaitible, but includes a playlist.other than that u can try to dissable "WMV acceleration" in the omega drivers options, uninstall and redownload/install the WMP10, install the omega drivers again, after uninstalling them from "add remove" windows control panel, then use driver cleaner (link in my sig, or front page of driverheaven, AND READ the directions). enjoy.

Service Pack 2... Yes and No.
I installed SP2, but then I had to uninstall it. The laptop in question is for work, and some of the software I run for work didn't like SP2 at all. So I had to uninstall it. (That might be my problem.) Anyway, I got the "media player classic" and that works. Maybe I'll check out that zoom player. Thanks, |

Mobility 9700 Issues...
Hey,
I've had similar issues with my M-Tech D470K (same as the Sager 4750), which has a Mobility 9700. The stock video drivers from my manufacturer (Pro-Star) were based on the Catalyst 4.2 drivers, and Doom3 would lock up after a minute or two. But when I upgraded to the newer ATI drivers I couldn't play any movies at all, from DVD or file. Whatever application I used just locked up, and sometimes took the whole system down as well. Couldn't start WC3 because the intro movies would lock the system. Anyhow, this issue seems to have started with the ATI Catalyst 4.6 drivers. I would recommend downloading the ATI Catalyst 4.5 drivers, or the equivalent Omega drivers, and installing those. If you need links, go here: http://www.amd64notebooks.com/phpBB2...r=asc&start=15 Let me know if that works... |
