??? Mobility Radeon 9200, Omega Drivers, PowerPlay...

Hi,

I have Mobility Radeon 9200 64MB video card in my Fujitsu-Siemens laptop... Manufacturer's drivers were quite old so I upgraded them to Omega drivers 2.5.76. Few questions:

- Do Omega drivers support all Mobility Radeons directly without needing to use any mobility patchers?

- Does PowerPlay feature depend on the drivers or card... or both? I couldn't find any PowerPlay options in those manufacturer's drivers. I couldn't find them in those new Omega drivers either. Does Omega drivers support that feature at all? If those options are not visible in the driver, does it mean that my card just doesn't support PowerPlay? On ATI's web site they're telling that Mobility 9200 supports PowerPlay... Or is that clock rate change tab in the Omega drivers same thing as PowerPlay?

- Are Omega drivers normally faster when compared to official Catalyst drivers?

Yes, long as ther are "radeon"

If you MFG driver din't have power play it would seem you lap doesn't support it. *alot of features are up to the MFG what you card/system does and does not support. some fetures may not be enabled by defult in omages becouse you can't make driver for evry laptop config. Becouse what I said before*. Not even ati put out driver for them directly becouse of that ....

Many seem to think so tests seem to say so, so i'd have to say yea, plus added resoultions, features, utillities etc

OK. Thanks for a very informative reply...! One more question:

If my card doesn't support PowerPlay can I use PowerPlay "manually" by dropping core/memory clock speeds from the Omega driver? I suppose the card consumes less power when it's running at lower clock speeds, am I right?
My card's default values are core 200MHz/mem 200MHz. What might be good "power saving" values?

DON'T DO THAT Rauski!!! That's exactly what i've done to my Mobility 9000 inside my notebook! I tried to lower Frequ (by using RadLinker), something got wrong & now my com. ended up at service!

I sugest not doing the same mistake...
