Hiya Ive got the same card as you, but so far havent had any problems with games except Colin McRae 2005 but that was the game itself.
Theres a few things you could do, 1. Make sure you have the right spec for the game, Im assuming youve got the 128MB card, not 64MB 2. What graphic driver you using? And is there a new version? You could try Omega's 2.5.9.0 3. What DirectX version you running? 4. Have you tried turning Hardware Accelerated Sound Off? You can do this by clicking on start, Run, typing "Dxdiag" hitting enter and clicking on Sound 1, you can also find what DirectX version you are running. Let us know how you get on with this, and Ill see if I can help more. SilverBack |

Sorry didnt realise you had replied as DriverHeaven didnt email me with the norification.
I would try Omega 2.5.90 check www.omegadrivers.net and click on ATI If you do use new drivers make sure to install them correctly, you'll find all the answers on the above site. You could also check to see if there have been any updated from your manafucter, I know usually there isnt, but its worth a look, Your looking for new AGP Drivers, or a BIOS Update. Im assuming your motherboard supports x8 AGP, check this by right clicking on Desktop, choose Properties, Settings, Advanced, Options, make sure under "Current BUS setting" it says "AGP 8X" If not load the BIOS, usually by pressing F2 during start up, look for "Advanced Chipset Config" (Might say something else on yours) And select 8X AGP, this will help loads if it is currently disabled. Let me know SilverBack |

You wont be able to install the CATS, as theyre not supported for laptops. You shouldnt have a problem with Omegas though, Download it from www.omegadrivers.net click on ATI Radeon, then choose your windows, and download from one of the mirrors, it should be 16.2MB, If you get that on to our desktop thats a start, then we'll get it installed after.
Let me know when you get the file SilverBack |

Ok, Have you checked your BUS settings in BIOS? We're looking to get 8X AGP activated if your motherboard supports it.
Now you shouldnt have any probs with the omega drivers, I will find the link for you rather than putting all the instructions on here on how to install properly. SilverBack |

Bios
No you cant really use a prog to do it, Have you got an option in BIOS which says something like "advanced Chipset Config?"
And have you been able to find out from the way I told you to check to see if 8X AGP is enabled? SilverBack |

Ok dont worry yet,
what I want you to do next is to right click on desktop, properties, settings, advanced, SmartGart, In there it will say if AGP is enabled and at which rate. If it doesnt say or even if it does say "Current AGP Speed 8X" click on "retest all" then "Apply" it will ask to restart the computer, click ok Let me know how you get on SilverBack |

No worries, Being a laptop user myself I hate it how we get less support than PC users, and I dont like seeing people stuck.
Ok, if you can check the full specs of your laptop from where you bought it, check and see if its supposed to be 8X AGP enabled, If it is, then you need a newer AGP or BIOS driver. The next step, which I would def recommend if you have the time is to download: (They dont take long on a 56K connection) System Cleaner: This is a really good tool for cleaning all the junk that are very hard to find in windows unless you know where they are. When you delete progs it generally leaves traces eventually building unnessecary files. This can be downloaded at: I recovered 2GB of space! www.systemcleaner.com/products/systemcleaner Registry Mechanic: This is a really good tool for fixing all those registry problems. Even if your laptop is new, as progs are deleted they can leave traces evenytually slowing your laptop down causing errors/crashes. This can be downloaded at www.pctools.co.uk And lastly Perfect Disk 6.0 This is a much better defragment tool than windows offer. Trust me this is good. Download it at www.raxco.com/products/ perfectdisk2k To prove all these actually make a differnence (even though you will def notice it) Go to www.pcpitstop.com Register, and then run the "Full Tests" (You will have to disable Anti Virus softwares for the 4mins the test is running. At the end it will give you a score and save them, Once you have installed and ran the above apps re run the tests. When you click on "Full Tests" It will allow you to see old test results so you can compare. I use various progs like this, and have seen a great advantage. Also after the test has finished click on "Windows Detail Page" If you then click on seperate apps in the list, It will show you what you can close and what windows must need to run. Usually when I play games, I have a list of commands I close throgh task manager and that makes a difference. Also when playing games you could click on Control Panel, System, Advanced, Performance: Settings, and choose "Adjust for best performance" Windows wont look as "Cool" but there'll be more power for your games. After doing all of the above you should def notice a difference. As for the driver I asked you to download. We'll leave that for now as its based on a Beta version, and the next one is out within 2 weeks, So when it comes out, we'll get that installed for you. Let me know how you get on (If you can stop playing the games for 5 mins lol) SilverBack |

Might be the wrong forum, bear with my, first time in here.
Got an 9700 Pro card. but after I've reinstalled windows its performing like shit. Game im testing in is Battlefield 1942 where I have approx 30 - 40 FPS. Im using the newest Omega drivers, and tried with an older ver asswell the ati.com drivers. no clue why my performance is suddenly this low, and its even worse with the "original" ati drivers only got 5 - 20 fps with them. Anyone got a clue what the problem could be? Other spec's AMD 2700+ asus a7v8x 1024 MB pc2700 ram |

Well i have bin working this problem for about 2 moth now and i havent got any results for it. Tried every drivers, every programs etc. I think now i will just send it in to my manufacturer to get them to take a look at it. It might be some hardware problems as i have friends playing same games as me with no problems. And they are running with same grapic card and settings. I am giving up on this problem i think. Seems there are no solutions working for me
.Thanks for all help again. |
