Keep in mind that you're talking about the same driver. Omega's is the same as Catalyst, only with different default settings and comes with other goodies. So, basically, any difference you'll actually see will be in benchmarks (the difference is always within 5% range - you'll never notice that in real life). That said, you could easily use the official Catalysts along with the tweaker of your choice (Rage3DTweak, RivaTuner, ATiTool, whatever). I use Omega's (and lately Unian) because they allow me to define new graphic modes, and I'm too lazy to install a tweaker. Oh, and Unian is such a small package to download...
The thing to keep in mind is that there's just ONE driver and that's Catalyst. Clear enough? If not, just ask... |

its always better to stick with the default drivers unless u want to try and improve performance or quality.
i would say their are two things to choose from. either use ATI's new control panel, CCC (catalyst Control Center) which requires .net or use omega drivers because he offers his own type control panel designed by chrisW/radlinker which uses no resorces and is much faster than CCC, with the addition of new features like catalyst AI. omega offers better image quality, sometimes it increases frames per secound, so its a plus. omega also offers other options, like softmods for certain cards (make sure to never softmod a card unless u know that spacific card can be softmodded). omega offers multiple differnt resolutions and other various options and 3rd party applications - like overclocking utilities included etc. same thing goes with UniAN drivers, which i love - cause it offers alot of tools and has a small package, omega on the other hand supports most languages and most all cards including whatever he can for most laptops and whatever video cards come out that he can impliment - so it makes them a bit larger for him. both of those modders are very nice and talk to the community (lucifer the creator of unian drivers is korean - he is a bit busy now i dont think we will see many new releases for a while, or mabe we will, i have no idea since he is so busy). ATI drivers are stable, and work for most configs, their not spacifically tuned for anything but general computer usage, and gaming all around.

As for me I recommend Omega since you don't need the CCC for some features it has, without needing the high memory usage. |
